As far as Pakistan is concerned, the last I heard was many years back when USS Nimitz came to Pakistan and the F-14s there engaged in joint patrol with PAF F-7s. A friend's brother was on F-7s then, and he said they managed to shoot the Tomcats out of the sky while the Tomcat pilots were searching for them...the reason: 1) No AWACS again. 2) The F-14 is so huge an aircraft, and F-7 is so slim, that it was impossible for the Tomcat Jock not to be seen first...
In short, its nearly impossible to evaluate any one airforce on the basis of air exercises alone. Reason: In the USAF Red Flag exercises last year, IAF sent its Su-30s for the first time, but even they were not used in air combat...only limited ground strike roles. My point?: every airforce has its own strengths and weaknesses, and secrets...and no air force is fool enough to reveal them to the closest of friends. The biggest test of any military arm is the conflict itself...peace

Indian Air Force had the MIG-21 aircraft which were the best combat air craft of that time .... too bad for them all of them were destroyed during the first airstrike of PAF but as one of our hero said in the video that"it is the man behind the gun not the machine that matters" In 1971 a sub-sonic F-86 saber of PAF shot down the super-sonic MIG-21 of IAF in air to air combat :)

So in a nutshell, 1965 war was started by India to grab Pakistan. Pakistan defending Lahore, Punjab, launched a counter strike on Indian Punjab and captured a large area of India. A stalemate. Result both countries return back to pre 1965 situation. Pakistan's objective was not to conquer India but to hold control of Punjab and Lahore, Pakistan got their objective, India did not!
I would be a little realistic here also. There wont be any dogfights in 2007 for sure. All relies on technology. While PAF has F16s, India has 2 things. a) it can afford to loose more plains than us. b) it has the Israeli AWACS which will be a huge factor. I also heard they would be getting F-18s soon.
Not sure if you live in USA. Have you checked the dog fights program on history channel ? they recreate dog fights . Excellent program. I am watching one on TV right now :) They have some on youtube also. Search for "Dog Fights History Channel"

Indian Air Force had the MIG-21 aircraft which were the best combat air craft of that time .... too bad for them all of them were destroyed during the first airstrike of PAF but as one of our hero said in the video that"it is the man behind the gun not the machine that matters" In 1971 a sub-sonic F-86 saber of PAF shot down the super-sonic MIG-21 of IAF in air to air combat :)

I am a Canadian fighter pilot..i am amazed how relax and cool they were during the War...Our academy has a handsome library of 1965 India Pakistan war and they are really lion-hearts(my Sqn name)and i also know some of Pakistan pilots by their name. So in a nutshell, 1965 war was started by India to grab Pakistan. Pakistan defending Lahore, Punjab, launched a counter strike on Indian Punjab and captured a large area of India. A stalemate. Result both countries return back to pre 1965 situation. Pakistan's objective was not to conquer India but to hold control of Punjab and Lahore, Pakistan got their objective, India did not!

I would be a little realistic here also. There wont be any dogfights in 2007 for sure. All relies on technology. While PAF has F16s, India has 2 things. a) it can afford to loose more plains than us. b) it has the Israeli AWACS which will be a huge factor. I also heard they would be getting F-18s soon.
