@enpointe64 I agree! Nowadays, teachers are people who fail to push the students to be better than their last attempt. Finding a good teacher is a struggle in itself, believe me, I know, lol.
this looks quite difficult! it must be so hard dancing on your toes even though i know the ankles are strong, training must be long to ensure that you dont hurt yourself! even that little excersize at the end looks hard my co-ordination is appauling lol

@nastassiais1 I am 30 years old, and interested in taking lessons. I'd be taking them for pleasure of course, I certainly have no illusions that I could have a career. I am interested to know if you think it is safe for someone of my age to start taking lessons.
Hi, I'm 32 years old, and have started when i was 27, it's safe and I highly recommend it! find a good professional and take your time, it's being such a wonderful experience ! I have so much fun, and you can achieve a very nice level, just put yourself into it and work hard, good luck!
@MissJessyeNorman Well, this is months later, but i totally didnt even get your msg til now. i think you should go for it! Its amazing for balance and if you love the art, you should try it.
@nastassiais1 Ive never met someone that said you ant start! My mom was i think about 10 when she started she stoped beacuse she hade to get a job so she stoped around her 20's and than she hade two kids me and my broher! Im now 11 and Iam taking ballet ! and she said if you really love to dance. DONT YOU DARE GIVE UP ON IT! AHHHHH i LOVE HER!!! . And around May she is going to start agin!
@nastassiais1 If you ever want to be a *professional* ballet dancer, you absolutely must start at a young age! 13 is about the oldest you can start studying ballet if you want to make it to the top. You need to start young because the constant training, barre + pointe work, mold/shape your body, muscles/bones as they grow. People can practice pointe work at an older age, but you still need years of ballet training to build the proper foot and ankle muscles, muscles even a fit adult haven't built
@nastassiais1 I think people say that because it is harder to get anywhere (career wise) if you start later. It is also a lot more stress. I speak from experience.
I am 14 and just started Pointe with only 1 year of ballet expeireince (and I was 4 so it was like, well nothing really)the first time I put on my pointe shoes was at my first class, we stated right away, but with really simple stuff, I have had 11 pointe classes (a half hour each) and am doing picae turns and aeribescs, (sry about the spellings) and a few other things, off bar, its really fun (hardwork though) you should definately do it
There shouldn't be a huge gap in between the heels in first position. Also, bending the knee while pointing the foot in the theraband exercise sort of defeats the purpose. What is with the mime arms when she balances? Couldn't she have a nice rounded first position like the rest of the world? It looks a bit silly. I do however like her skirt. :D
He's very thorough with his teaching, which is really good! I wish I had a teacher like this because all of his students seem really strong but elegant! <3
@breaking1995dawn really you shouldn't let yourself stopping from learning to dance. I'm 33 !!! and I practice it because i believe in it even though my main dsicpline in dance hasn't been ballet!!!
You believe in it and you'll do it, no matter what your sister or any one's telling you.
i never practised ballet, and i'm 14..i know i'm way too old to start but i rly like it..plus my back wont stretch a lot. my sister danced for 10 years and keeps telling me im not gonna make it, and my aunt teaches ballet but i live in italy so she cant teach me anything...do you think i should try or just give up?and how much time would i have to wait to do pointework? sorry for all these questions lol. thanks for the awesome lessons. they're helping me getting started anyway. :)
@breaking1995dawn you should try.. you're never too old. Yes, you may not be a professional, but guess what, not everybody is made to be a professional dancer, but that not make you stop from loving it. You can be the spectator, you can enjoy as much =). I really encourage you to start
@breaking1995dawn I started when I was 13, and I'm 14 now and auditioning for Melbourne's VCA secondary School. I don't know if I'll get in, but my ballet teachers think I have a fair shot. I say go for it, you may even get to be a professional.
@breaking1995dawn XD, I was 14 when I started. It just depends on the person but I think you could do it realy well. I took classes for 8 months and alrety R practicing For intermediate classes. Don't give up, besides flexibility WILL get better over time if U practice. Pointe should wait for about 2 years, mabe longer unless instructed by Ur teacher. But don't worry, its just as fun without the pointes ^-^ Good luck, Go for it!
@breaking1995dawn so many people have responded to you I am sure you are tired of it :P :)... but here goes. Im also 14, and Ive been doing ballet for only a year. But I'm already in a level w/ my age group and I think I'll be on pointe soon. It took a LOT of dedication though! And I plan on becoming a professional..so that just goes to show you that you CAN achieve a profession in dance even if starting late. In fact, someone once told me, "Late dancers are often the most dedicated ones"
I wish all teachers were like him...
