  • Hey that car he said was electric was an ariel atom, which has a gas powered 4cylinder honda engine!!

  • Battery technology will improve exponentially over the next 3 years. Range will extend to 1000 miles. I bet my car on it.

  • it electricuted the ferrari and the porsche hahaha

  • Right on, electric cars rock!

  • just wait until the battery technology improves. Everyone thinks that gas prices will go back up to 4 dollars a gallon, but one thing that people don't realize that with the introduction of electric cars next year, people will use less and less gas causing gas to settle at a low price, and if this recession ccontinues it will only get better!

  • That's a short term view. In the long run, oil supplies will reduce offsetting the reduced oil demand. Also, you have to realize that more than 40% of oils' demand goes towards other uses than transportation and energy, so there'll always be that significant baseline of consumption which weren't not even going to come close to within the next decade.

  • yeah your right, it is short term, and I don't think it will get better and better, i don't know what i was saying back then, ha

  • Wanted Tesla Car, new or used, also buy options and reservations.

    HELP ME!!!

    Thank you

  • Zero emissions for cars, okay. But for powerplants, how about that?

  • there is a thing called efficiency in scale. a big engine can be more efficient than two engines that sum the same output of the big one. even if the power plants contaminate to generate electricity, the contamination should be less than the generated by the equivalent petrol engines to generate the same amount of power as the electric ones. if we wait till all conditions are perfect and do not start with little steps, we may kept waiting

  • Hey thats the Ariel Atom bodywork

  • anyone thinking elec motors on the wheels dont work should look at any freight train engine, there's one on every wheel. and when the polarity is reversed, they act as brakes.

  • that car might have an electric motor in it now but it IS NOT an electric car by fault i.e. buiklt from scratch as electric, it Is the Ariel Atom originally fitted with a Honda engine.. Anyone can modify their car to be electric thats old news. it is good to see electric whipping exotics though

  • also you need to look at the power to weight ratios as well.. but this is a good example of why people need to give up their gas guzzling engines and go for elecric.. this way you keep the cars you like with good power and zero emissions.. 21st century people.. get with the program..

  • so you divert emissions from your car to the power stations giving the world no change.

  • that looks the the Ariel Atom with the Honda civic Type R engine.

  • Thats not the Tesla Roadster. As it says in the video, that is the X1 Prototype.

  • just make a brushless motor(10-11) 13 inch in diameter inside each tire: control speed, no brakes, it will generate electricity on slowing or downhill. And solar panels on the roof will charge battery wile I'm @ work.

  • The idea of having motors inside the wheel sis silly - made popular by... popular mechanics.

having small unsuspended mass (rim, break disk, suspension) is imperative for good handling and road contact. Even if you lose some space putting the motor within the frame of the car and having trans axles is much more likely and clever way of doing it.

  • Who needs mid-east & Venezuela oil anyways?

  • no joke!

  • we need it for a hell of alot more stuff then cars but yes this is great news.

  • To power stations to make the electricity.

  • WOW!

  • They forgot to mention it only cost Five Bucks to fill up the electric car. Ok, so you buy this electric car, it's twice to three times more efficient than todays toyota Prius Hybrid, and only cost five bucks to fill up at home in your garage standard plug in outlet. And why doesn't the Automotive Industry Build Electricity Powered Vehicles?

  • Because of the OIL company, they bully the car maker company, and they bully the goverment. And still trillion of dollar of oil left in the ground that hasnt sold yet. But, smaller car maker are making that change, like the TESLA company that build electric cars.

  • well said dude, but may I also add the arms industry? Who would they sell the zillions of guns, bombs and ammo when there's not war for oil in the middle east?

  • Research the cost of taking a gamble and building a production plant and tooling costs, then you'll have your answer. Oil companies aren't the major blocker, it's set-up costs and convincing the public to buy a new product.

  • Wtf, all he did was take the Ariel Atom and brop an electric motor in it.

  • Glad I'm not the only one that recognized the Atom. The standard petrol Atom would probably smoke the electric one.

  • Really? I would not be too sure in a drag race. Electric motors have gobs of low end torq, hi revs, and no need for complex transmission. Look at the specs for the production Tesla car's drive train to see what i mean.

  • I am soooooooo building my own car like that :D
