I really hated FFVIII because of the level scaling and the gimmicky skill system. The battles were nothing more than summoning aoens on every character. The story was alright but it didn't have a good theme like FFVII had (with the whole technology against nature thing).

My favorite rpg games is Suikoden 2 and Star Ocean 2. I enjoyed every hour playing through them, but really nice recommendation's. You gave out an all around picture of the best rpg games thats created

Had to rewatch this awesome video series, since I see Part 2 is up. Excellent list, I own most of the games you mentioned.

Some that I dont own are: Xenogears, Dragon Valor, Valkyrie Profile, Tales of Destiny II, Xenosaga and Disgaea.

I should play Chrono Cross soon, that is on my list for a long time, perhaps after I finish Xenogears (still on disc 1).

true though that some games are hella hard to get. you can find them definately on ebay but a price that is too much especially for us kids. luckily i was able to get xenogears and dragon warrior vii without much trouble since my friends had it. i also have legends of dragoon but its greatest hits version. and i hate greatest hits versions.

Dude you should try an great rpg of 1998 that gets overlooked by big titles like Metal Gear Solid was Jade cocoon. You have to try it out. Plus it was one of the first games to have a main cast of voice acting.

I'm looking forward to part 2 of this. I've never thought of some of these PS1 games before. I just picked up The Legend of Dragoon because I saw it in this video, and asked around about it. I would've never given it a second thought before, but one of my friends confirmed it was a good title.

It is cool to see someone else thinks highly of Parasite Eve. I loved that game back in the day, and felt like it never got as much hype as a final fantasy game or something.

Suikoden is amazing, as for the fina fantasy series, loved them all.

Yet to play xenogears, valkyrie profile, legend of mana and parasite eve.

However I did try legend of dragoon (emulated on PSP) and it was a bit to last gen for me, I didn't enjoy it ;(

tried to emulate chrono cross onto my PSP (as I had done for Suikoden 2 and 1) but it didn't work properly..

In north America its named "Tales of Destiny II" because of Copyright to a toy made by a manufacture here. I know its named "Tales Of Eternia" everwhere else but here thats what its refered to.
