Oblivion is closer to an Action/Adventure with a few RPG elements than an RPG. There is no consequences (even Morrowind have those, minor as they may be), the Skill selection is rediculous, there are far too few paths to follow, etc.

What's the point of the ability to be, say, a hunter when there are no guilds/factions for that type of character? Or a battlemage when the Mage's Guild doesn't offer any alternate paths/choices fitting a sword-wielding mage?
