I have never used newspaper articles or TV reports to make judgments about Christianity.

A cursory look at the theology and method salvation proposed in Christianity in enough to show that Christianity does not make sense (at least to me).

Most Islamic scholars agree that that Hadith is relevant to one single incident. Abou-hodaifa had a young boy (Salim) he adopted as his own son. Islam disallowed adoption afterwards. Then the boy's adoptive mother asked the prophet for a way to keep the boy as family (not Moharam). She was told to breastfeed the boy once and he becomes like her own son.

Since the story is peculiar, because Islam disallowed adoption long time ago, the Hadith is specific to one single instance.
