I wish these guys would clarify that swinging slowly doesn't mean swinging softly. I have a slow tempo but I swing pretty hard. It feels good and I launch it.
Here is a little secret. You know that tension builds when you get ready to hit. This is called an adrenaline rush so when you swing smoothly, you think you are going slow but you are going faster than you think. Plus if you try to kill it your brain doesnt have time to coordinate the body as a whole. I didnt try this on the practice range but on the golf course and it does work. My brain is still trying to learn this too.

He is right about slowing down your swing. I had the kill it syndrome until I started noticing that people that had smooth swings were just as long and just as straight. I must admit that its hard to do at first but it does work. Your game does get better.
Also notice that the right arm gets close to the body (but does not touch) on the downswing. This helps straighten out your clubhead. Hope that this helps.

actually, I am quite correct. I'm 5' 4'', 110 pounds, and I can strike the ball 230 yards with my 3 wood consistently, 5 iron 165 yards consistently, my 7 iron 140 yards consistently, 9 iron 120 yards consistently, etc... These distances are all an outcome of a near perfect swing. If this golfer above learned the correct fundamentals of the swing, I'm sure he could strike the ball MUCH further, but right now, he is limited on distance based on his sloppy swing

If you have an ugly swing and it works, then your swing follows a particular principle. Like Jim for example. He reroutes his backswing multiple times but on the downswing, it is right on plane every single time. All great ball strikers have similar impact position no matter how cool or ugly their swing is.

Your right about "douchebag swings". Just do what works for ya. My uncle's swing is SO ugly - but he plays of 4 and is a very big hitter. Hes pretty much self taught but had a few lessons a while back. The pro tried to give him a "regular" swing, it tore his game apart so he just went back to what works for him. Its a joy to see people sniggering at him when he makes his practice swing on the first tee - and then see their stunned and somewhat silent faces when he smokes it 300 down the middle!

Yeah, his ugly swing won him $250,000 in 2008's Remax Long Drive contest. Not bad for a guy who's under 6ft talll and weighs only 165 lbs.

If you have an ugly swing and it works, then your swing follows a particular principle. Like Jim for example. He reroutes his backswing multiple times but on the downswing, it is right on plane every single time. All great ball strikers have similar impact position no matter how cool or ugly their swing is.

i reckon ive got a half descents swing and i can get 240-275m off the tee depending on power, im not trying to brag but it does the job. And y the fuck wood u wanna swing like that. if i saw him on the course i'd be like "man that ass clown swings like a douche bag"

Your right about "douchebag swings". Just do what works for ya. My uncle's swing is SO ugly - but he plays of 4 and is a very big hitter. Hes pretty much self taught but had a few lessons a while back. The pro tried to give him a "regular" swing, it tore his game apart so he just went back to what works for him. Its a joy to see people sniggering at him when he makes his practice swing on the first tee - and then see their stunned and somewhat silent faces when he smokes it 300 down the middle!

I concur with the fart theory. It sounds like he'd been playing for a while, and he has a layer of sweat between the cheeks. That explains the inability to hold it in, and the loose, burbling sound of the follow through.
