I never knew this brilliant song was produced by Martin Rushent... who suddenly passed away last week... RIP Martin RIP Billy - Thank you both for your beautiful music.
Oh I'm so glad I found this entry! It was my all-time favorite in my teenage years; I can't believe I nearly forgot about it. But could anybody help me out with the lyrics? I was convinced that in the one chorus part he sings 'I'll stay these vagabond nights' and in the other 'As to these vagabond knights'. I never had the chance or purchase the album so if somebody would be so kind and to take a look at the back fo me? Thanks!
Yes, put "The Associates at Ronnie Scotts" into the search bar and the top entry, hosted by my better half, spacehopper70, is Billy singing GBTC. I had hosted it myself previously, but it was removed after the publishers got funny.
I remember a concert at the pavilion on glasgow and we all sat and listened...Billy was kinda wierd about it saying "this is so unlike Dundee..." but it was a real respect thing - not a danceabout concert but "sit and listen this is unique..." anyone else there?
Oh, please. More likely he's walking back to the trailer, for a cup of tea to warm himself up (looks rather chilly there). Or perhaps he was desperate for a pee by then. :-P
Seriously, no disrespect intended, but let's not over romanticise these things unnecessarily, eh? This video was filmed a good thirteen years before Billy's eventual demise. I wouldn't read anything much into it!
The perfect song .... why this wasn't a massive hit I will never know ... piano ..strings ... great vocal by Billy .... easily my favourite Billy/Associates song
I do wish all these types who clearly understand SFA about clinical depression would have the decency to keep their ignorant comments to themselves. As Will said, you don't know, so don't judge.
Is this the singer from Associates?

The song brings a tear to my eye, but I can't watch the video - he looks like a cross between Jean Claude Van Dam and a young Billy Connely !
