hey 1 more question how big does the yasha goby get? and what type of pistol shrimp is that? and in my 9G biocube i was going to have about 3 inches of sand with 2 or three small living rocks is this okay or do i need a big rock?
@venum411 I would suggest that you sign up at nano-reef . com and do some searches. I know a ton of people on there have 9G biocubes. I bet some of them even have the exact setup you're describing.
@venum411 Thanks! I'm sure they would be fine in a 9G as long as thats the only fish in the tank. Be sure to give them a deep sand bed. At least 2 inches.
Great video. I now have 2 Yasha gobies and 3 pistols. Origionally had a single Yasha/Pistol pair. Bought a 2nd Yasha and they got along for a week then problems - new Yasha stole old one's shrimp. Bought 2 more pistols - good thing because one paired with the new Yasha and his pistol and now he has 2, and the origional Yasha has one. Everyone is happy.
@pache11 Nice, I never thought about getting a second Yasha. Mainly because they are expensive. It must be really cool to watch all that interaction though.
i have a yellow watchman goby with the same pistol shrimp as u(i believe, urs is a candy pisol or randalls pistol shrimp right?) well anyways, ive read the shrimp r scavengers but i wasnt sure, i tried to put somee mysis shrip in the burrow but the shrimp dug them out as if they were sand, so i was wondering r pistol shrimps scavengers?
do they make a differant burrow somewhere where you can see them because my yellow watchman goby is in a corner with a tiger pistol shrimp will they dig one somewhere in the middle or will they stay there
Stick your hand in and mess up the burrow, but be gentle so you don't hurt the critters. They should move, that's what I do when I don't like where mine are. lol
There are a specific family of shrimp gobies that will pair up with pistols. Most species have a specific type of goby that they prefer. Do some googling then get a pair, they are awesome!
Nice symbiosis. How deep is your sandbed? I have mine at 2 inches and was told it was too shallow, although I find it hard to believe since my randall pistol is so small.
Yeah thats typical Cuban lool. People in Cuba exclusive see food only on windows, but can not afford to get them. Oh those hungry Cubans. Come to USA we can feed you all. U can have hamburgers, french fries spaghetti, cakes. loool. Poor hungry Cubans.
I called myself trading my banded goby for a yashia goby...i already had a pistol... Now after i added my yashia i havent seen my pistol...i did a full cavity search!!! LOL..now i have to get another pistol...desent theat sucK!!! but your yashia looks great!
Yeah, you know, it is pretty hard to meet people out there. And when you have something in common like your t-shirt it's a good conversation starter. "Wait, you live in caves too?!" ..."No way, I love frozen Mysis Shrimp too!"
Wow, they're like best buds and shit! Do you think it's cuz they're wearing the same shirt or bodystocking or whatever it is? Cuz from here it looks like they're wearing the same clothes, and I just wondered if maybe they bonded over that and said "hey, let's get an apartment/tunnel together!"
how do they live togehter without fighting?

how did u get ur yasha goby pair to stay so close to the tank front and out in the open instead of hiding
bluewhale9 1 year ago
@bluewhale9 It takes a while for them to get comfortable. If the tank is in a quiet place they will come out more and more over time.

They will scavenge and they will hunt. Mine always gets super excited when I put mysis or basically any type of food near it's burrow.

Mine is probably only 2 inches in the deepest spots. Seems like it's plenty deep for them. They have tunnels all over the place under the rocks
