Popularly attributed to the 18th-century Venetian master Tomaso Albinoni, but composed by the 20th-century musicologist and Albinoni biographer Remo Giazotto.
Oh, how I would have loved to have been sitting in one of those back pews for this recording. As great as this recording is, I would have loved to have felt the vibrations and heard the natural reverb as the sound bounced around in the Basilica.
This is probably the best interpretation I've ever heard, truly faithful to the baroque spirit of this wonderful piece of art. It inspired me a lot, please check out the piano version I wrote based on this, right on my channel!
Perfekt! Phantastisch!
for all the native-american speakers... do you know the partiture was rescued from the ashes of Dresden, when the American army wiped out the city with all its inhabitants??? of course i don't hope you know nothing of history or culture, but you should...
This is meant to slowly break your heart ... it is said, that if someone plays Adaggio in G minor at the poles, all that ice will melt instantaneously.
i knew when I read the Adagio in G minor was played by a Hungarian orchestra that I would hear the best rendition. Thank you so very much for uploading.
Fantastic, a new world opens every time I listern to this.......or play, I am a trombonist and has worked on this with organ..... it just takes you places. I listern to any music, well not all, depends about my mood, but what ever we listern to this is still the foundation to any music that plays out there, and this makes it so special, classical music has survived so much and still will.
3 people are deaf, I have been listening to music all my life , Rock, country ,gosple,Blues,Jazz, but I find myself listening to more and more Classical music. This is totaly Superb, I could listen to it for hours
@autoteck1951 as we mature so do our tastes.Classical music is what the whole world should be listening to not crap like r n b,hip hop, rap, metal and so on.
Now this is how Baroque music is supposted to be played. A lot of people think that to play Baroque music in respect to the time, you must stay in the context of the tempo all the time and everything hast to be very structured. Baroque music is meant to be played in context of a stricter tempo, yes, but with musicality encorportated in that tempo. This group is doing that perfectly. Ver musical and broud. Very, very good job.
When I listen to this, i close my eyes and picture myself riding a gondola in Venice, Italy hearing this awesome sound played aloud throughout the entire city.
This is the best version on Y/T, but if you want the best of all... buy the movie - Gallipoli! The movie is a very good (and sad) plot about Australia's fighting involvement in WW I and stars a young Mel Gibson. This will be the only movie you actually leave on until the credits are done rolling because the full version of Adagio in G minor for organ and strings plays there. If you want another like this try - Brahms' Sextet #1 in B Flat Major, Op. 18 (second movement)
@mariadelpilarsalcedo- I translated your beautiful words. "Absolutely beautiful and inspirational. I do not own this melody in particular, but it moves me and is like floating. It's sad, but it's a beautiful sadness... as if my soul left my body and flew into infinity. The violin solo at 3:20 (minutes) is masterful and it caused a moan in my heart with a gasp of sorrowful tenderness. This interpretation is wonderful. It is simply a phenomenal job and very few orchestras can sound as well."
Best performance of this that I've found on YouTube, my hairs are still standing on end. Its my favourite piece, and to see it performed so well is always a thrill. Thank you.

@tomasnoronha I completely agree, friend ... the acoustics are astonishing and otherworldly -- so unusual for an old stone church. The setting and the piece blend perfectly. Thanks to Kovezett for sharing this!

I´m so sick and tired of people generalizing "metal dudes" as ignorant rednecks. I love metal and I also love and appreciate classical music. I like this piece particularly because it was performed by Yngwie Malmsteen at a G3 I attended. I know there are metal heads that are complete trolls, but we are not all like that.
