Don't you want to plull in the main more? cause the course deviates so much in this video, so if you want to keep going pretty straight down wind your wasting lots of time...
The key is that with the varation ofdirection, it creates momentum in the boom to continue through the gybes. it is possible to do it without as much steering but in 30+ knots, i think its more important to get through the gybe rather than running the rhumb line. Also you are planing right through the gybe without slowing down much. Im not saying its the perfect method, its just an alternative which has worked well for me
Its an impressive technique which i have been successfully training single-handed dingy sailors for a long time. It isnt easy to learn, but once you have mastered the technique, you can gybe in anything. I have been caught out in some very strong winds and have managed to gybe fine. Just try it some time
They are both correct, just alternative ways of spelling the same thing. Just like Colour or Color are the same thing. Another example would be that the word Realise is also spelt Realize in America
Im glad you like it. Its for the kids I coach in Dunedin, New Zealand. I have a few random sailing videos in in various boats (Laser, Starling and 29er) but that was my first coaching video. I am looking towards creating more when I get back on the water.
great tips
