He actually is using a plain old pick. Also, regarding the tabs... I have his book. I also have the training dvd. I learned it mostly from the dvd and by listening to it over and over again. It actually isn't that difficult. It is just that he plays it sooo fast...
There are metal shredders who think they can play fast, but this is beyond fast! He plays chords as fast as some "hope" to play notes! The best, hands down!
