  • I get it, he always wanted to BE somebody, a hero in a way and in the end it's ironic how he does become "somebody" and a "hero" without his consent and to a cause he didn't want to be a part of. As a gigolo, he wasn't anybody but he chose it, whereas in death he didn't.

  • I laughed and frowned a good deal in this film. Thanks for the upload!

  • 2 things I'm not satisfied:

    1. When Paul got shot and died I was like WTF? Cuz it took me 1 minute to find out that sudden dropping down was not a starting of a guerrila war but Paul getting shot.

    2. The gossip girls (No puns intended) were just ridiculous this time. Where were they going?!?!?! Into the woods?!?!

  • I don't find this movie so unpleasant...It's even touching somehow, I mean not only at the end, but all the way through, here and there. The beauty of the pictures, the permanent lack of real action (wich is the tragedy of the character's life), and this whole crowd of nobody people (the dancers and actors, the prostitute with the dogs at the beginning, Marlene's character, the widow, etc.)... It does have some kind of poetry, don't you think ? Like a senseless and crual tale.

  • thank you so much for posting this, it was a very good film. bowie should do more acting, he's so good, better than many of todays top starts.

    may i ask, where are parts 1, 2 & 9?

  • I can't be the only one disturbed at him dressed in a nazi uniform, of course it's not portrayed at all in a 'positive' light, not in the slightest. Still, it kinda makes me want to be ill...

  • that was a good movie. shame about the ending though

  • Cool can u please tell me what the RATED of this movies?

    thank u

  • YOU KILLED BOWIE! YOU ARSEHOLES :'(

  • Was this the cut version for the U.K? If it was it would make a lot more sense...David Bowie seems to play some of the most tragic characters. Not all of them but they usually don't end up to happy. I think if it was cut better it would have been fine, still I think it was good. I think it was done in Paul's point of view and you kind of get this disconnected feeling throughout the movie, it seems very lonely, sad and it tries at times to be funny, but it just can't. I liked it. :)

  • the single reason...i sat through 12 videos (i couldnt find the first second or ninth) was david bowie. and to kill him off, i thought was a good thing because he was leading a miserable life. and i cant stand to see that gorgeous face miserable

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

    WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY??????????????

    and why such a funeral???

    what a stupid ending!!!!

  • @raffymercury Please see reply to duncangeek.

  • It really is a shame that Bowie and Dietrich's only movie was so mediocre! Oh well. I enjoyed seeing Bowie in '20s clothing. Waited to see this for a long time so I appreciate the upload.

  • My God but this movie is terrible! How can somebody have Bowie, Dietrich, Rom, Schell and Jurgens and that setting and come up with something as horrific! Cabaret and Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence are masterpieces! Jeez Hemmings!!! Still I am a big fan of David Bowie and was looking for this - only he can look good and keep any person glued to the screen throughout this turkey! Very generous of you to share, thank you very much

  • @duncangeek Sorry you are missing the point. Prolly you are too young, or have no interest in history, to understand. The same political tricks are practiced to this day.

  • @pishi1104

I don't think duncangeek is missing the point too much. It's pretty obvious what's going on in the movie. Yes, we get the message, and the message is a quite interesting one, but the communication of the message was faulty.

The movie couldn't make up its mind on whether to be a comedy or a tragedy. The comedic parts weren't funny because they were surrounded by serious parts, and the serious parts didn't have the proper impact next to the comedy. And the acting...not gonna say.

  • That's life. Comedy and tragedy are entwined. The movie was great. Or perhaps not enough special effects for some?

  • @pishi1104

You're right, they are entwined. But this movie transitioned between the happy and sad awkwardly, from one extreme to another. It just didn't feel..I dunno...harmonious.

Not to say I didn't enjoy the movie, though. I actually liked it a lot. There are plenty of movies I like that I don't think are technically "good" movies, and vice versa.

And special effects? Nah. Believe me, 90% of movies I watch were made in the 1940s or earlier. I don't need good special effects.

  • @magenta1000 I don't get the message at all. Nazi's were gay? German women get turned on by men that don't seem turned on by them at all? A German gigolo ditches his mom under gun fire to have sex with a woman at her dead husbands casket even though he never seems turned on? A gay nazi declares a dead gigolo one of his own as a form of sexual possession? A really hot young chick can't get our hero's attention because she isn't rich enough? Seriously, I don't get it....

  • @Dehzee I was kind of referring to the specific message the guy I was replying to was talking about--that of naivite and innocence leading someone into corruption unintentionally.

But I totally agree with you--this movie had WAY too many things going on at once. It's just part of the confusion.

  • @magenta1000 I think the best part was the visual aspect of the movie, everything and everyone was so pretty...

  • @Dehzee Oh, indeed. David Bowie <3

  • @Dehzee - the final punchline is that he's a whore even in death. It's a very sophisticated kind of humor, at the same time it is also weaved with a certain level of tragic truth, otherwise the whole film would simply be a farce. In regards to the gay thing, ti's to put the hypocritical element into things & insult the nazis. In a way, ALL the others are a joke too, "whores" for something or someone.

  • @pishi1104

So, furthermore, it wasn't a great movie, nuff said.

I admit I watched this principally for Bowie and Dietrich myself, and I happen to be of the tender age of 16, but that doesn't mean I couldn't figure out what was going on.

  • OMG he died! What? Why? Why would you kill him off? He was the only reason i watched the film! Agh!!!!

  • thanks for sharing this it was such an amazin movie bowie rox x

  • awhh man :[

  • He can be my gigolo any day even if he is 60 odd!

  • Thanks for sharing it. I've been looking for it for quite a long time, because I'm a fan of David! It was great to see it!

  • think I must buy this one someday!

  • Kim Novak, Marlene Dietrich, Maria Schell, all great stars, join David Bowie in this film which had limited distribution in the USA. Kim Novak is very very good in this movie.

  • The movie was nice but quite cold and emotionless. I enjoyed it though and thanks a lot for sharing cause I've been looking for it for quite some time!

  • beautiful.

    cries*

  • no! why? he's too hott to die:(

  • the greatest stars of this film in german, are Maria Schell, sister of Maximillian Schell and Curd Jürgens, who died in that year.

  • Nice ending. :)
