yeah, you can definitely see how dashboard's been influenced by weezer... rivers has faded a bit on the songwriting, but they're still one of the better bands out there. Pinkerton is a work of art.
Why do you think Chris and all of his contemporaries play Weezer songs?
It is because they we influenced by them early in their careers, Chris is just paying homage to his elder statesman Rivers. To insinuate that Dashboard plays the song better than Weezer is blasphemous and I am sure Chris would even agree with me on that one. Pinkerton is so well respected among musicians because it came from a place that is very real in terms of songwritting.
haha who said weezer is a pop-punk emo band??? lol ur an idiot. btw theres a studio version of this cover on the wire tapes vol. 1, but that cd is a pain in the ass to find
You're right, it was a pain in the ass to find when Chris first released it (as it was only sold at concerts) but after the tour was over, it was available on the dashboard website... I don't know if it still is, though.
well yeah i know kids these days might not call weezer "emo" but their pop punk sound and lyrics about girls and loneliness defiantly inspired pop punk emo bands of the late 90s and on...chris even says they were a big influence on him....and just for the record i really hate emo punk but dashboard is cool....
not to try to one up you or anything, but the term "emo" was coined in like the late 70's or early 80's along with the hardcore movement i.e. badbrains, dead kennedys, black flag. and "emo" was the part of that genre that was denounced due to its emotional stage presence, however, it didn't mean "emotional" or it meant emotive hardcore
I was also there - but only to see Dashboard! :D I love them and finally i saw them perform after years of waiting! ^^ Thank you so 'effing' very much for uploading the videos, wonderful memories! :)

"Chris took this awkward mess and made it into an enjoyable song. "
What?
Carrabba's version is almost exactly the same as Weezer. Your view of Pinkerton may be an opinion, but it's wrong anyways.

i agree, however, weezer came out before the term "emo" was coined. before that it was just called being a passionate musician.
