I stumbed onto these guys by accident and could hardly believe what I was hearing. Not only the incredible ability of each brass player but the amazing ensemble work to play this piece.

to be able to play notes this short on a trumpet is hard enough, but to still have the unbelievable tone and ability to play them so well is pretty far above my head.

Think of it. They are just two generations from Helmut Wobitsch and one generation from Adolf Scherbaum. It's as if they have discovered some secret to trumpet playing that the elders never dreamed of.

Matthias' piccolo trumpets high passages makes it just amazing. Example 4.43.

The piccolo player is actually Christoph Baerwind, who is 2nd trumpet in the Hamburg State Opera and therefore a low specialist! An absolute natural!
