i have one and have used it live, but, still do not fully understand the capability that it has, I don't really know how to control the tones and stuff and unfortunately mine didn't come with a book, so really I've been trying to find one. Can anyone help me?
@coyotl18, I am not so sure if you are already have the users manual but you can find it online just google it as "boss gt 6 users or owners manual". Hope that will help you.
I bought this about 9 months ago. I've been playing for about 20 years and have an extensive electronics background, so even for me it took some reading and fooling around with it before I really started figuring it out. This thing is amazing if you take the time to figure it out. I've managed to get some amazing tones out of it. No matter what settings you choose, you have to tweak it accordingly and ensure you have the correct OUTPUT selected or it will sound like crap!
i`ve mastered the settings on the gt6. its quite user friendly once you`ve put some time into it... this is also the best board i`ve ever come across. it does have the most realistic simulators 10/10
absolutley none but for some reason it has a button to delay your responce to change, why i dont know???? anyone wit half a brain an a good ear to the sound that they want to create should have no prob wit this board... again 10/10
Tell ya what, I'm an old dude but have been playing professionally for many years...I bought the GT-6 ...and it's total "shit" as far as I'm concerned. For starters...the thing is incredibly diffcult to learn, I guarantee you...people at NASA couldn't work the damn thing!!
The thing no one ever talks about is how you eq the tone settings on any multi effects pedal with that of the amp i.e. To balance it out should you have the tone controls on the amp right down, or all halfway on 5 etc...
the point, there are players out there that have a wide spectrum of what they want to sound like. if all u play is blink-182 then yes do not get this pedal stick with stomp boxes ( which usually only have 3-4 knobs). there are pro and cons to everything especially this pedal and I've wieghed the math. I considered this a PROfessional pedal and have used my for everything the last 4 years.
here's my two cents, its not excalctly user friendly but lets not forget that its a professional effects processor not for dumb dumb with a year of guitar under there belt. sound great live so im not sure where your playing of if u even have a audience. it takes a little to tweek but once you get the basic 101 down this thing is really easy to get around on. I'll admit though that there are still things i dont understand and i only use 10% of what it offers but thats
totally agreed... I bought one of these used a few months ago and I thoght it was the greatest thing... then I bought single effect pedals and I found out GT-6 got some really bad tone.
Well actually, if i can add to your conversation here... I have two degrees (a bachelors and masters) and i am still learning how to use it. It could be a little more user friendly. To be fair, i wasn't given a user manual when i bought it so i had to basically plug it in and see.
I agree with SecretLove4Aoi. I've used stomp boxes, just bought a used one today, no manual, and was up and running in minutes. It's pretty easy to use and there is plenty of extra documentation on the net, if needed.
Used a PodXT Live for quite a while. It carries the same problem as the Digitech's- everything sounds too digital. I use a Boss GT-6, and it's easily the warmest pedal I have ever used.
To me it sounds like total bullshit.

Are these seriously the best patches they can demonstrate

Can you plug this straight into the front of your amp or do you have to have an effects loop in the back of the amp?

@coyotl18 I didn't have a book either when I got my GT-6, but i downloaded it from the BOSS website. You may want to do the same...

I use pedals! but for processors, I pick the Boss SE-70! I find I get much better sounds out of that over a GT-6

i have one and i hate it. my pedal board of single effects sounds way better and is easier to use. don't buy a gt6 especially for playing live

maybe you can setup output, direct or not in POD XT Live, if i choose direct output, the sound is not too digital
