Ultimately Christopher's need for a father figure from Tony made him a sad and pathetic character. Not that he wasn't interesting and smart in his own way, just sad.
@RiotZone121 Tony could not treat him like a son, because their relationship was based on Business. Everything Tony did with Chris was business. Except family meals on Sunday. The rest of their time together, even with Adriana being whacked, was strictly for Business sake. The price of being MADE.
@pizzaisyummy86 Are you really that stupid? Ask yourself this question. What is a show? Is The Sopranos a real show? Yes, it is. A show refers to a TV programme in this case and The Sopranos is therefore a real show. I'm truly amazed at how stupid you are. Jay Leno is a real show. Friends is a real show. The Sopranos is a real show. Shows are different from something we call real life. Read over our comments and you'll see how stupid you really are.

Chris Moltisanti was a child raised in an environment of superficial love and real violence. Next time you see a career criminal from the hood going to jail or lashing out at society through crime or over-the-top ignorance (think loud trash talking and bravado), remember Moltisanti. The real tragedy is his role model was Tony Soprano.
@jackwardjw After I hit the reply button I'm not gonna argue with you any further. You're the only one that sounds like a feeble minded jackass you short tempered, fuck. You're 26 years old writing hostile shit like that on youtube. Meanwhile I'm the one at college studying medicine at 21. You do the math. That fact that you respond to someone angrily that quickly is an immediate sign of that person not being very smart. You sound like the actual retarded version of Bill fucking O-rielly.
@jackwardjw I completely agree. You can tell who are true Sopranos fans immediately. His imbecilic over generalization of Christopher shows he didn't understand the show, nor components of real life (ie: addiction.)
@PeterDaltonFilms Check out mark28105's comment. The term 'sociopath' is, according to that moron, merely an ugly label, and sociopathic personalities don't actually exist. I really do marvel at the level of idiocy displayed on youtube.
I love Michael Imperioli's work but honestly, what decent looking man wouldn't do a good job getting paid millions of dollars for playing a junkie badass? am I right or am right?
sometimes i feel like moltisanti when my big brother breaks my balls how paulie does to chris and all i do is give to my dad and i can never give enough
Aside from The Sopranos being one of the most incredible pieces of art I've ever seen, it introduced me to so much incredible music. The Valley by Los Lobos along with Tindersticks Running Wild from 'The Blue Comet' are two of the finest examples.
Chris couldn't have hit Paulie since he'd be hitting a made guy; remember what happened between Tony and Ralph in season 3. Besides, from the look on his face when he sees Tony laughing along too, I think he was too hurt to be angry.
When Tony kills Chris, I think it shatters any temptation to romanticise the mafia, particularly Tony. Paranoia and looking out for yourself first and foremost reigns supreme in la cosa nostra. Peace.
i know that chris is a weasel little drug attic..and i hated him at first because he was annoying..but i began to understand him and thought he was a badass..i kinda teared up at the end of this episode when he returned home
@JRilla1879 bobby whacked the french dude because he got in a punch on with Tony and beat him and making him kill the bloke was pay back for beating tony (because it was the first time Bobby killed anyone)
HOW DID YOU KNOW I WAS HALF BRITISH CANADIAN AND HALF AFRO-CARRIBEAN-CANADIAN?? BLOKE NO ONE USES THAT WORD WITH ME IN NORTH AMERICA THEY SAY GUY OR MAN OR SOME STUPID SHIT
Even the stripper was laughing......cunt. Anyway this just shows how people in the mob really don't give a fuck about one another. It's all about money. By the way if I was Chrissy I would've smashed my glass against his fake ass tanned face and tell him off for being a 70 year old bachelor hahaha. With all the fatasses in that room you would think the Bing would've collapsed.
Paulie's comment just seemed needlessly vicious and out of character for him. This was where the real rift between the family and Christopher was made apparent, truly the beginning of the end for his character.
Christopher was misunderstood in so many wayyysss... Songs fit his struggle wit the drug addictio to be accepted and his hustle to provide for his new family....
Mah fav. Character still mad he went out like thatt...
I like Paulie, but that was out of line...he deserved to have that glass smashed over his head...and then another one on his face just as a warning not to do it again.
This is a great analysis of issues involved with sobriety-- and loyalty. People I know who have tried to clean up from alcohol etc. had similar things to say as M. Imperioli's character.
This wasn't just a show glorifying the mob. It went pretty deep.
i feel bad for chrissy as a character... he tried to get away from the drugs and alcohol and got disrespected for it and the lack of support was what lead him to his downfall
I think they were both selfish. Chris was more emotional and impulsive about it while Tony got caught up in anxiety and had many ways of justifying it to himself.
I like Chrissy a lot, but one of the problems with him was he always wanted sympathy and for everyone to care about his problems. He was immature in the fact that he thought the tragedies in his life should buy him a level of sympathy from the other guys in the crew. But all these other characters had more than enough of their own shit, own tragedy to deal with. He only saw his problems and didn't realize everyone else from Paulie to Tony to whatever had their own plight.
remember his parents, nothing great to take example from; tony:same, bad example and educator; Chris was too young and becoz of tony graduated too fast as a captain in the family.
Christopher as a character is so cool, and you, in a way, actually get to sympathise with him. Him and Pauli were the best, especially in the episode with the Russian.
In the episode Heidi and Kennnedy (where Chris dies) can anybody tell me the song thats playing when Tony is in Vegas and meets Chris's ex fling for the 1st time. Cant find it 4 shit!!! BTW, Micheal Imperiolli being the best actor-agreed! His character should have had a more appropriate demisse . Christpoher was too volatile 4 such a bland death.
i found chris's death anything but bland. it was the kind of surprise the sopranos is famous for pulling over your eyes, the moments that come out of nowhere, another moment like that is when vito is caught blowing the security guard. some large moments, like pussy's death or the war between new york and new jersey, have large buildups. the other moments just come out of nowhere but are just as gratifying.
I dug out my Sopranos DVD, and strangely, there isn't any music during the scene where Tony first visits the stripper, but when they're boinking, it's The Pretenders.
The Sopranos Music Guide lists a song called "Outta My Head" by M. Ward during that scene. Maybe they couldn't get the license for the DVD.
As for Chris' death: remember, Tony Soprano (and most everyone else on the show) are sociopathic to some degree. They're anti-heroes, not heroes -- you're not supposed to like them.
Christopher should have landed one on Paulie. That's his daughter he's talking about. I mean look what Tony did to Coco after he made comments to Meadow.
man he fuckin made a movie about tony that ended up with his head chomped down by a cleaver.. If i was Tony i would of lost all my respect for him... and thats probably what happened, instead of defending him... he went against him. by that point tony and chris had nothing going for each other...
@Mercedesbenzrox Paulie was promoted to Underboss in Season 6. Even before that, he was captain when Chris was only made, and still made since before Chris was born.
probably in the top three of sopranos episodes, christopher is one of the most amazing characters ever, michael imperioli is a legend, the song combined with that beautiful ending give me shivers everytime. Paraleled perfectly with a first season episode when chris closes the door an chooses his un promising life of crime. powerful. bes
Not only best show ever, christopher is such a good actor (michael imperioli) i didn't like that he died the way he did. I really like this song too makes me relax
