This is such a beautiful video. Too bad more moms don't go the home birth route. I think there would be a lot fewer complications if people just understood that non-hospital births (aside from high risk deliveries) are much safer and better alternatives for both moms and babies.

PS i tore because my midwife didn't get me to pace the last stage, i was in such a rush to get baby out and i wish i had had that kind of advice, it would have made a huge difference.

i would say most students get erections in the beginning during pelvic exams.. but after a few times you get used to it.. its natural.. theres nothing wrong with it..
A friend of mine is a gynecologist and he keeps telling us about the women from our neighborhood who visit him and how each of their vulvas are like. I think he's enjoying his job a little too much.

This is not my (meaning the filmmaker's) birth, but Valerie, the woman who I filmed. It IS amazing that she did not scream, or yell, barely made a sound. I roared like a lion at my birth. Val was very focused, yet, at the same time incredibly at ease, even casual.

Actually, with both of the boy's births I was very much inward and peaceful with it. Honestly, I have never been more at peace with the world asI am when giving birth.
This labor and home delivery seem so calm, nurturing and profoundly moving. I loved this film. How I wish I could go back 40 years and have a better birthing experience myself!
