  • "Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked."

  • Even love causes that. :)

  • Actually it is neither love nor bible nor anything that causes shootings. It is people who choose to do so. It is in human nature.

  • Exodus 21 - surely you aren't quoting these as evidence that we should live by the Law, are you? If so, what about the ones that teach we shouldn't wear two kinds of material in the same garment or plant 2 kinds of seed in the same field? You can't pick and choose. Either we have to keep it all or else we are free. Thank God, in Christ we have indeed been set free from the Law.

  • I think he quotes that to show how evil he finds the bible.

  • If a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod and he dies at his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, he survives a day or two, no vengeance shall be taken; for he is his property. Ex 21:20-21

You may also buy them from among the children of aliens among you, or from their families, whom the begot in your land. These shall become your property: you may keep them as a possession for your children, for them to inherit as property for all time. Such you may treat as slaves. Lev 25:44

  • Slaves are considered to have more honor in the eyes of God than normal folk.

There is a scripture saying that if anyone releases his slave, he has dishonored him/her.

I think it says if a man wants to marry his slave girl he should shave her head for a few days. And if he changes his mind he must release her because he has already dishonored her.

The problem with all these rules is that they were impossible to keep without love.

  • If you buy a Hebrew servant, he is to go free in 7th year, paying nothing. If he comes alone, he is to go free alone;if he has a wife when he comes, she is to go with him. If his master gives him a wife and she bears him children, the woman and her children shall belong to her master; only the man shall go free. "But if the servant declares, 'I love my master/wife/children and do not want to go free,'then his master must pierce his ear with an awl. Then he will be his servant 4 life. [Ex. 21:2-6]

  • DUDE! I'm not a mind reader (especially via Internet)

    WHAT'S YOUR POINT? =]

  • (i) Bible condemns knowledge 184. 17. But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: - Genesis, 2/17

(ii) Bible condemns wisdom 185. 19. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God - I Corinthians, 3/19

(iii) Bible condemns philosophy 186. 8. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy - Colossians, 2/8

  • 1. correction: knowledge of good and evil.

    2. correction: wisdom of this world.

    3. Philosophy is based on faith. All faith is blind. That's why bible does not condemn philosophy, but it condemns different faith.
