The British was pretty good while the American looks like crap. Less cunning sense of humour and more ridiculous and cheesy. Not that US doesn't have good comedies but they tend to be an extinguished species. And seriously stop with the bloody remakes for pitty's shake. Hollywood is completely dry of new ideas.

the jokes were written to be delivered with that dry sense of humour... it defeats the purpose when everything is so bubbly.

for eg when when chris rock sees the asian body, he cracks a joke about it looking like jackie chan.. it completely changes the movie... the english version is much better. the acting takes the cake..

The fact that it's basically an all-African-American cast simply states why this film was made - to make money by remaking the film for the audience who was least likely to see the British version. Why would you have a film with basically the exact same jokes (at least in the trailer)? There are 501 things that could go wrong at a funeral that they could have done, did they really have to copy everything right down to the gay midget, the coffin mix-up and the medication swap?

i saw the original version back in Atlanta in 2007. i got to tell you that it CRACKED me up from start to finish. so so so funny! i will see the US version and come with my conclusion. but the original will always be the best one. regardless.

While this movie is another sad reminder of Hollywood's growing inability to generate new film ideas, this one is largely Chris Rock's idea; he had a vision of altering the original with his own kind of comedy and, though original's usually win, I think he did a pretty nice job for what it's worth. Now I just have to see it :3
