@hawkinscreative The sequencer is much like the Motif ES's sequencer. I've considered doing a demo of the sequencer, but it would be helpful to know what people are wanting to see because there's so much you can do with the sequencer.
I can't promise anything because I do not own a MoX, but if the opportunity lends itself what would you be interested in seeing?
@xiec I think it depends on what sounds you are using. I like some of the Korg sounds for what they are, but I had to choose I would go with a MoX because it covers most of my sounds needs.
Nice review. I would like to see what type of sequencing capabilities it has and if it's relatively simple. I almost bought the Roland Juno-Di until I played this. Although it's a little pricier, the sounds are way better than the Roland's. The action is better, too, and doesn't feel quite as cheap. I just don't have the time nor patience to figure out how to use all the features, and have not had good luck in the DAW arena. I'm old school, and this looks complicated. Good sounds, though.
I have one myself.. I like everything else except that the keys do feel a little cheap.. I be happier if the keyboard was made out of another kind of material or some kind of metal to help it last longer, like my old Korg O1W or other workstations it would still feel light but it wasn't design to last thats the only thing.. but other than that its a great keyboard
@fnonaka That was "DAW Remote". That means "Digital Audio Workstation Remote". Basically, the remote control surface feature of the MoX that allows you to control transport, mixing, etc.
Hi Y/Chops- Thank you thank U & Thank u for this Demo- I;m not a keyboard player but i do try a little writing. always wonted a Motif XS or XF, i just couldn't afford it- I came across the MO x online and wonted a demo or feed back from it- it's all i need, and i'm not only impress with the price but you kick ass on the keys yourself. thanks again my friend-
@chessdude67, I'm jealous of you. I have Motif, but I think it would be cool to have a light weight Motif XS sound engine with a built in USB audio interface.
The USB audio interface will work with Logic and I believe the control surface will work too because I think it's using Mackie Control.
Thanks for the compliments! Also, thanks for taking time to watch the videos!
@jxsbebop I bought it this morning. Bought it at a (local) Sam Ash. They knocked $50.00 off because I told them that I had called Sam Ash (on line) and that the sales person offered me the MOX8 for $1,599.00 out the door. No tax, or shipping! So, I went to the (local) place because I wanted the MOX6 and they said they could not come down on the price...till I told them I would buy it from them on line. They took the 1149.00 after I told them they were doing battle with them selves. Thank you.
@jxsbebop I did have to pay the tax, but that's ok...I wanted it today. I could have done it on line and saved the tax money, but you had me too pumped up to wait a week for delivery, lol! Thanks again for your video and your channel. I have a lot to learn, but YouTube will be helpful.
@chessdude67, yeah, man...at the end of the day, you have an awesome keyboard workstation with an excellent sound engine that you play with right now....have fun!
@seannopak25, for me personally, if I had a choice of a bigger GUI with more menus are a smaller GUI with more buttons, I would choose the smaller GUI with more buttons because once you learn the interface you can get stuff done with less button pushes. However, I understand some people would prefer to have a bigger GUI.
@BillieJean900, can you be more specific as to what you mean by if the MoX6 is like the Motif XS6 or Motif XF6? The MoX6 & MoX8 have the same sound engine as the Motif XS. The difference in sound engine is just that the Motif XS can use up to 8 insertion effects at once and the MoX can use up to 3 insertion effects at once. This shouldn't be too much of an issue because you can print up to 4 channels of audio at a time with the built in USB audio interface.
@BillieJean900, Also, if you find my videos to be beneficial to you, would you mind subscribing to my channel? Just click the "Subscribe" button next to my name on the top left. It only takes a couple seconds :)
Great review! I was very happy you used ableton live as your remote daw for the demo.... I have had my mox 6 for 2 weeks and I use Ableton as well; my concern was that the in/out sample rate stays at 44100 and not 48000. This may not be true with cuebase but it was a bit disappointing especially for those of us that mix at different sample rates. I will wait to use this as an interface, perhaps there will be an update later and I hope it comes before the karma one due out later this summer.
@soundvapor, I'm actually trying to find out more info regarding the sample rate options available for the MoX's USB audio interface. I tried to contact someone at the Motifator forums, but I never heard back from them.
@maximus721, want you to know that I went back to GC to test this out just for you. Basically, when you hit the "drum assign" button, it basically gives you a list of drum kits with an appropriate drum arpeggio assigned. You can change your drum kit and it will change to an arpeggio that is for the drum kit you select.
@jxsbebop I appreciate it! did you happen to notice a tap -tempo button? Thats the one thing that aggravates me regularly on my current MO6. the "knob" control is horrible for finely adjusting tempo, (let alone finding one on the fly). My M3 has a tap tempo which I appreciate, but I'd even settle for a way to "punch in" a direct tempo.
@yaboichi, there's a whole lot better. Motif XS sound engine, XS arps, built in USB audio interface, new performance creator, etc. I'm not sure what exactly are you looking for?
Are the keys in the 88 key version the same ones in the motif? I'm always concerned on whether or not the black keys have the crappy slippery plastic coating. :/
@freetrader0000, the keybed does not feel the same as the Motif XF 8. I'm not quite sure what you mean about plastic coating because almost all the keyboards I have played have a plastic feel to them. Honestly, it doesn't feel bad, but I would highly suggest you check it out for yourself before purchasing.
If they had a 76 key version if this, I would divorce my wife (if I had one) just to get it! I like 61 key, but it looks so tiny on stage, and 88 key is great and even though it's very light, sometimes putting it inside the trunk of a car can be a hassle.
@jxsbebop So I've been looking around for awhile and narrowed my choices to the Yamaha MO6 or the Korg M50..and now this comes out :S ... this is better than the older Yamaha MO6, no? My only concern is what keys do you think are better, and if usb plug in is a new thing, then what do the other keyboards have so that I can plug into my PC? Now I'm stuck.. Korg m50 or this? Which is better built?
@MFPalubaJr, no contest between the MoX6 and the MO6. If you're deciding between those two I would just go with the MoX6. Regarding the MoX6 and the M50, the M50 sounds very good too. I think the M50's strength lie in its synth sounds. Now this depends on what genre of music and what your preference of sounds are. I think the M50 synth sounds are geared towards that smooth urban sound or even dance. That isn't to say the MoX is lacking in synth sound either. It's just a different sound.
@MFPalubaJr, personally I like the feel of the MoX6 better than the M50. However, I would highly suggest you check it out for yourself at your local retail store. I hope that helps. Please feel free to ask any more questions.
Ok I just hit a big brick wall with this thing. Can't get it recognized in my MAC. Drivers installed correctly, cable in the right socket, settings on MIDI and saved but nothing. None of my software including Logic Pro 9, Korg Legacy Collection, Absynth and GarageBand see the MOX. Also in the Yamaha USB Driver control panel there's nothing, no device shown. Maybe it's a simple setting I have overlooked but I am REALLY not impressed. This is supposed to be plug and go!
@yamahaforums, hmmm...I don't know what to say...I just installed the driver at home and connected at Sam Ash and it start working... I would check with Yamaha tech support.
@jxsbebop Are you using a MAC? If so what OS version? Also are you using Cubase or one of the other supported DAW's ?. I have not installed Cubase AI yet as I don't want to use the License if I end up sending this back. However I do have Logic Pro 9 installed and it "should" work fine with that. I have contacted the store where I bought it as they usually offer excellent support so will see what they say tomorrow. I'll post back with the results either way.
Someone just asked on the forum if you can record from the mic input as with the Roland Juno Gi? I don't think you can record direct to the MOX. I think that input let's you put your voice "through" the MOX but not record into it. As far as I am aware it's midi only ?
@jstyleent, I've had 3 Motifs total, and I'm tempted to get one of these. Mainly because it's so light weight and it has a built in USB audio interface and the Motif XS sound engine.
@jxsbebop Exactly! you said it bro, same here. i want it to be my first motif because of the XS engine, cheapest price, the audio interface, and its weight! I'm a church musician so being able to carry this would be sick! Thanks again for your videos bro, enjoy your demos and playing!
Nice review. Only had my MOX6 about and hour now and all in all it's pretty nice. I'm not so sure it's that well built though. It's fine for the studio but all that plastic is not great for gigging, however that is not a criticism directed solely at the MOX. Riland Juno Gi is pretty flimsy also. Anyway, just wanted to give you a big thumbs up on the review :)
@yamahaforums, thanks for checking out my video review! I feel like it's fine because I have a Yamaha KX49 that I pretty much leave in my trunk without a case and it's been rock solid. I take it everywhere to practice when I have some down time. I know the chassis is plastic, but because of my experience with the KX49 I feel fine with it, but I'm sure it will vary depending on usage. Some people thrash their gear.
You have a site? I tried googling your username, but I didn't find it.
@jxsbebop Yeah I understand what you mean. It will be fine as long as people don't throw it around which of course some people do. Just been going through some more of the presets. It's a bit of a mixed bag but on the whole I am liking it. You didn't find my site by googling my user name? I just googled it and it came up as the first hit but that's on the uk google, I guess we are much better known over this side of the pond.
@yamahaforums, I googled "yamahaforums", but all I find is official Yamaha forums...I'm assuming you're not officially Yamaha. Would you mind PM'ng me your site. YouTube doesn't allow urls in comments...
@Dadee3 - it's definitely a value for money keyboard. Only competition is from Roland with the Juno Gi but although I am a big fan of Roland gear I have to say I think Yamaha have pipped them at the post with the MOX. it's a definite winner I think :)
@jxsbebop, my understanding is the audio inputs are only used for the audio interface. Being there isn't memory, I don't see how it can record audio directly to the MoX.
Can you use it with the internal sound engine and as midi controller simultaneously?
mr4y 1 week ago
All the buttons from the panel work in DAW remote mode as controllers? There's no info about that on the manual.

could you please send me the midi file, or could you maybe do a video on how to create a click track like this one.
i would love to use something like that in some of the church stuff we do.
you're amazing at what you do man
