What was he thinking? That guy should have never attempted to go under that in the first place, he is totally at fault. However, I also think that building was not built up to code. Anytime there is a bridge, underpass, or drive thur roof, they have to be designed to take a hit to prevent such an incident.

Looked it up.
The guy survived, with his 10-year-old son. Apparently it just fell on the drivers side and while it was falling the driver unbuckled his seat belt and escaped through the passenger door. Imo that's skills.

It looks as though the bank would have been liable for most of the damage and injuries. Although the truck's driver was at fault for hitting the canopy, it should not have fallen.
A vehicle striking the canopy is something that is very possible. It should be built to withstand a strike by a vehicle that size.
