The Taliban is using local population as human shields?? What is that, Sven Hassel?? There is no Taliban in Afghanistan, all of them are locals who are willing to fight against invaders. Think of this if you don't believe - the nowadays fighters are young, how old were they in 2001?...Afghans hate the Taliban coming from Pakistan but they support the local fighters or those who used to be Taliban. If you ask them, almost all of them will tell you that it was better during Taliban rule.

As a NATO officer who just came from Afghanistan and met many Afghans and many Americans, i have to say that i have no respect for lots of american troops who disrespect the country they occupy and their allies. @Seanjmurray don't just look at her report then, in the recent fighting in marjah there have been multiple reports of insurgents forcing civilians to be shields for them because they know the us military will hesitate due to concern for the citizens' lives. that is one of the primary reasons why this offensive has taken as long as it has

Lets get it in prospective these fighters are poor as hell they are using weapons that are rusted an barely operational an they are up against the US forces with full Armour full array of weapons an air strike ability, this is not war these are just skirmishes , war is when the other side can put some badass fire power on the other side too.
Marines need to go home and let the afghan people deal with them

War is war... we're there to kill, yet we care enough to be as nice as possible... in World War 2 carpet bombing was a very common practice. And some may argue that that was a different time... but war never changes... the weapons and men do, but war is war... and war is death...

Well if you had a memory longer than six days you would be aware that the Bush administration slashed medical benefits for veterans, while many soliders had to contend with cockroaches & later rats running around the Walter Reed medical centre, two senior officers were forced to resign as well as the Army Secretary. The salary they pay soldiers who put their life on the line is disgraceful, but if you have no standards it probably doesn't matter a dam........

the military can serve a purpose, when it comes to humanitarian operations, protecting people from genocide, delivering aid to hurricane and earthquake victims, but the armed services have been misused in Iraq and Afghanistan, they are wars which should never been started, the wars are sucking the life out of America & have made the world a terrible place, if you are still in the Marines then be safe, but beware......nothing good can come from these conflicts...............that's it from me.....
