I must say, by looking at this gameplay video im pretty impressed with this game. BUT just think how awesome something like this would be in 3D, just thinking about it blows my mind. The scale of epic would not be enough to imagine that.
This game is really great, but there's just too much trial and error for me. When I first started playing this it sometimes took me four hours to beat one level.

tends to follow a pattern in each chapter. go to a location tackle some cops then do some form of puzzle and then a last bit to do. Theres a couple of bosses sort of but only one of them you actually have to fight with. the others well they are like stratagy bosses where you have to figure out how to beat them without fighting.

A less contrained game would contain nonlinear environments and multiple play style. Both of these as extreme as possible would create the most freedom.

I'm mad because this could have been done easily back in 2006. We could have all of mirror's edge as a TIDBIT in a myriad of gameplay features. They keep milking us by dramatizing single features! I hate it. On PC with mods, I already have all of these features at once in ut2004.
Of course, we should have had a lot of innovations in gaming by now. Companies are just more pandering to the mainstream gaming crowd, so that means innovations will be nonexistent from now on until even the mainstream crowd gets tired of playing the same crap.

i agree but we did get some really innovated ideas this year. I see a lot of promise in brink, borderlands was kinda innovative,so was demons souls and no more heroes. there are more but mostly this generation of gaming is more about redefining old genre which isn't bad but i don't think it suits with your, mine, and many others taste.
Mirror's Edge was criminally underrated, even misunderstood. Critics kept talking about the bad shooting mechanics and how supposedly confusing the level design was; ignoring the fact that there was no real need to do any shooting whatsoever to get through the game (I for one never fired a single bullet), and that even if you got stuck wondering were to go next, the solution was almost always more straightforward than you thought.
Also, ME's stylized and original art design is impeccable.
Well, I got the "Test of Faith" Trophy (complete the game without shooting an enemy). But you're right about that very brief sniper rifle section at the end of the game, so I should have said that I never used a weapon to kill an enemy.
i got "test of faith" as well. i played tha game on normal, then came back on easy to get it. only reson i did it that way, is cuz i dint realise that trophy was there till after i shot an enemy.
I tried the ps3 demo of this awhile back and it seemed pretty cool. I will get it in the future for sure. It is nice to see something so original like this.
