If you're looking for a deep, insightful horror movie, you've come to the wrong place. But if you want a laugh, and if you dig movies by John Waters, Roger Corman, Troma, and the like, then light a blunt and prepare to laugh your ass off. ^_^
This may sound strange, but I wonder if this film & Dr. No ever played on a double-bill anywhere. We may think such a double-bill strange today, but in 1963 (when both films were in US theaters), they were modestly budgeted tales with violence which the major studios didn't know what to do with. I'm not surprised that everyone today knows what Dr. No is while only die-hard horror fanatics know about this movie. The not-so-good doctor was a lot scarier than Fuad Ramses.
I heard that movie theaters basically break even on the price of admission - the consession stand is where the big profits are. Apparently they buy these gigantic vats of popcorn kernals for like 100 bucks and then use just a handful of that to make a bag of popcorn that they sell for 8 bucks. Big money.
@pibitopoxi Yes, this film reeks of historic value. It also reeks of cheesy special effects, a script that deserved burning at the stake, and a director on a 3 day binge. In short, it reeks.
This is my very favorite low budget bad acting horror movie. I have watched it at least 100 times. I never get tired of it. There are so many non-intentional (i think) funny scenes I can't name them all. This film should have its own fan club!
Does BF2 have the same actors? I just love the police detective and his gf (star of BF). Oh, and the "how dry i am" song which has been tweaked is really wonderful.
The chamber music settings - various combinations of timpani, trombone, piano, and violoncello - are exquisite. A film of the highest quintessence of refinement.

You can tell this was the first gore film. Compared to 80's slasher films, the make up and special effects are weak.

I've figured out why Mrs. Fremont wears such large hats--it's to keep her head from floating away.
