M1A firing m-118 (174 fmj) @ 1 1/2" mild steel plate @ 87 yds and one of my projos bounced back after turning inside out at the steel and hit the side of the house behind me about 2-3 degrees to my left. Now I ONLY hit thick steel by shooting through 1/2" plywwod, that stops the spray.
50cal bounces allot. I'm not shocked to see it ricochet off a steel plate. I've seen 50 cal bounce 400 feet one after another in the air after hitting the ground.
@TheRiksdaler uhm yeah it did, are you death, you hear the shot, then you hear the sound a ricochet makes and then yu see dust and hear the bullet clip something
The jackets separate from the cores, and can on occasion come back to the shooter's position. Always shoot hard targets from an angle will help, as the ricochet will come back along the opposite angle. However, this will not help alot on a busy firing line. It may miss you, but strike another on the line. Best to just shoot at soft targets in this situation.
