Thanks 4 postin this! What was the ticket cost and how many passangers on board? That sure did sound like a little slippage under the bridge, what do you expect lugging a trainload of "foamers"-LOL a 10 star video
Some of the stuff BN donated to parks and museums years ago is being restored. NP Q3 4-6-2 2152 should be restored soon. See nprymuseum dot org for info.
On top of that, the UP tracks do not have any public rail stations available for use. Hence the use of the BNSF gave them more exposure due to the added Sounder Rail Stations (they're commuter stations) along the Everett-Tacoma route, which actually gave viewers a safe way to view the trains' passing while on the platforms.

$299 round trip from Tacoma to Everett for a coach seat (what I had) or $399 for a dome seat.

It looks like UP has alot nicer passenger cars than Amtrak. Even the windows were clean.
Great video!!!

Cool video. I wish BNSF had maintained some of their steam too. A triple or quad header would have been even cooler!

Any idea why they used BNSF tracks instead of UP?
amtrak1970 4 years ago
Probably because the UP between Seattle and Tacoma is rated for only about half the track speed of the BNSF track.

SP #4449 sounds like she was working really hard on the way out of Everett. I think I heard some wheel slip at one point.
