For me, CBS and NBC are nearly tied for the best intros

I beleive they do the countdown for local TV news stations and CBS affiliates see that the feed is being streamed and they can switch over to the feed, also i have that sound memorized. If im washing dishes and hear the TV starting to beep, ill be in there in a heartbeat

The NBC intro is by far the best breaking news intro.

these countdown animations are always loaded into the Vision mixer, ready to be thrown to air. Pull of a lever and this is transmitted on the East Coast feed, it's up to the other Time Zone affiliates to swipe the off-air from the CBS Broadcasting Centre.

Was the count down meant to be seen by the public, or was it only meant for technicans? Kinda looks stupid to have a countdown on TV these days. Many people watching don't even remember the days when they had a countdown on motion picture films.

like the early show for example, some stations air either the first or second hour and in some cities the early show isnt even aired
