Cristiano does a lot of unnecesary moves, he doesnt drible that close to the oponents, he's to vertical, no lateral dribbling, makes dribbles that takes him nowhere, and just for show, also he doesnt products a lot of plays for his team mates. In the other hand we have Messi wich is fast, direct to the goal, eficient, fast, passes, dribbles far better and takes more risks, he can corner, shake, speed, i mean, genious, handles the ball closer to his food, he makes art with the ball.
