Another idea is to let off all the world's nuclear bombs on one side of the earth and push it out of the way of the asteroid, preferably in a non-American country of low strategic importance where there are no oil fields.

its not hard to do. rockets dont help, but if you take one and make a sheild on it, angle it, and wait for apophis to get close enough, launch and deflect. prob wont work tho.

Another idea is to let off all the world's nuclear bombs on one side of the earth and push it out of the way of the asteroid, preferably in a non-American country of low strategic importance where there are no oil fields.

first off, no matter how powerfull the worlds nuclear arsenal may seem, all its tenthousands of warheads will not move the earths by a single degree. even worse, you destroy the ozone layer on one side and nuclear waste will orbit the earth meaning that over time every single square mile in our troposphere will be radiated with nuclear decay.

armageddon is considered to lack the most physical reality in the history of modern film making. The asteroid is the size of taxas, (1500km in radius)
it travels at 11km per second, and a 800feet hole with a 100megaton warhead would do the trick,
you need like a billion times more energy then that at a much greater depth to split
