The state of nature is sometimes imperfect for it is not made for man alone. sea water is poison to us, fresh water is poison to sea fish. nature has the potential that human technique makes use of. Culture. ZEN.
don't understand why he's dissing clerks 2 for using it, he is the one who gave the permission to kevin smith to use it and he got paid, what a hyprocrite he is
I've followed this guys whole career and he's always done somebody I never expected. It wasn't always welcome but I appreciate his surprises. Like covering "Crazy In Love" by Beyonce...I never saw that coming. LOL!
Check out this painting if you can find from comic artist R.Crumb called 'A Brief History of the World' its subject matter is very similar to the lyrics of this song...PS Johnny Marr played on this track!
Kudos to David and the other talking heads for writing the song, but I think the band Guster sings the song better. If you type in Nothing But Flowers in youtube its like the forth song down.
You might be interested to know that the BBC sessions were (more or less) released as the DVD "Live at the Union Chapel". I watched the concert live on TV and the DVD is pretty much the same set with some other stuff & interviews etc.
Listen to the words people...

what a pleasant fantasy, that human civilization would cease to cover the earth in a layer of toxic technology -

hey c'mon, he is not that old, he's just got grey hair... he must be as old as my dad or something.
pacotabaco2 2 years ago
it's not a bad thing that he's old... and mostly I was just commenting on his weirdness. He's strange and it's cool that he is still strange.
ligerliker 2 years ago
Darn, I WISH he would do a reunion. This backing don't cut it compaired to the real band...
