  • Is this a netbook you are running this on :O

  • wow, i will try. i have all video games emulators working but xbox not yet and now i will learn next mac os emulator on windows..

  • you should just go buy a mac mini :P

  • No, it isn't Fake. Its real. I have it in my Computer too with Mac OS X 10.1, 10.2 ans 10.3 ans it Works. It emulates a PowerPC G3 or G4.

So shut up and don't say it's Fake. Try it first :)

  • ----------F-----A------K-------E--------

  • @MrAlexbmxxx How?

  • PearPC emulates a PowerPC architecture so that's why it would be slow. VMware should be faster because it should be able to use your Athlon 64 directly.

  • would it stay permanently like an boot in the menu

  • Hahahaha.. nerd! Buy a mac and stop violating international laws! :)

  • You should boot it in Linux it would be faster... and yes I understand this is an old video/...

  • ur processor is is only 1.0 GHz dude that's why it's slow u need a 3.0

  • vista speed problem solution:

get an xp emmulator and run it in there

    ....lol

  • @BansheeFriend I lol'd so basically you say "Run an emulator of XP in VISTA then in teh emulator>emulator> run MAC! AMAZING! xD be like playing 1-bit

  • well, due to the lack of a 64-bit network driver, i run mac os 9 with sheepshaver inside a windows 2000 virtual machine running in vmware on a windows 7 64bit host

  • @windowspiratato: You may be a king to me by the end of my downloading and testing. Just the answer I'm looking for.

  • can u run mac os x 10.2 on pearpc?

  • @NinjaNicholas sure

  • pearpc or vmware tell us ?

  • never seen such a geekish looser in my life

  • yeah... right

  • À pearpc how did you that? I use macosx 10.4.8 on vmware

  • if u want it in PearPC use only Disk1 because others

    are for

    programs and extras

  • man youdownload slow you need internet with speed like me. i have a 30mb a sec average if i uncap adn run ay full 1 gig a sec.

  • i got one cuetion where o get is?

  • forget it they wont tell you...ive have months looking for this....if you find out let me know

  • sort ya vid out

  • why? people with macs run boot camp to have xp and vista. so this is presumably the same idea.

  • He's trying to run Mac OS X instead of Vista, right?.... or am I wrong?

I don't think it has anything to do with running both at the same time. It seems to me like he wants a Mac instead.

  • pearpc is just like boot camp, its an emulator. if he was trying to use os x instead of vista he would have to build a non allocated partition and and boot from an osx disk, and even then he would still have vista, he would just have a choice wich is still like boot camp.

  • If I'm reading correctly, you're saying that Boot Camp is an emulator? that's 100% incorrect if it is what you're trying to say. You actually run the operating system alone, instead of inside OS X. That's all I have to say further.

  • im not saying that boot camp is an emulator ,im sayin that it is the same basic idea; both boot camp and ppc allow you to run a foriegn operating system.

  • It doesn't run the OS alone though. You're technically still using 2 Operating Systems at a time when using Boot Camp or PPC

  • About boot camp running vista alone... wouldnt it then be the same if i created a partition on my HD and simply installed osx as i have done in the past. This allows me the choice, at startup, to run osx or xp; xp and osx never meet.

  • Indeed it is.

  • if someone donsent want to spend a whole lot of money so they wont!

  • yeah lets spend $1399+ to buy a freaking mac

  • you can buy mac mini for 599 so fuck you

  • honestly...no one gives a shit

  • Those are pretty bad specs to be running Vista..

  • not everbody has the time/ money to get a good pc

  • i agree with the expensive thing but i feel special i get like a 25% discount from apple because my business has a contract on something with them so ya

  • ya i have 2g in my laptop and find for me its not enough haha so i got 4 and now im always moving quickly

  • i once had mac installed in vmware workstation and after 2 days of searching o found a download of vmware tools for OSx86 Mac, and it worked fast just like the pc its self, but then i reinstalled and forgot to save the vmware tools lol

  • yeah...

  • if so, I recommend the Mac Mini or the Imac 20" (if you want today's macs)

  • PM me, i promise to give you the instructions

  • does anyone have any tips on how to speed up mac os x tiger on vmware if so please reply

  • get more ram

  • i'm running vista with 1 gb and its good

  • another case where tiger > leopard is NetInfo manager, the reason they took it out was because it rarely did what it was told, even by apple themselves, but that was actually a good thing for tiger security because it was required to get by for a lot of hacks on tiger, with leopard someone could break in the same way in 1 line of code since there's no NetInfo manager to bypass.

  • Hey Man I Really Want To Know, What Do You use The Pearpc Package, OR The PEARPC Control Panel

  • neither, i downloaded the emulator from sourceforge and configured it manually myself.

  • Oh, I See... thanks,

um i have a problem with pearpc. i have the iso for the mac os x tiger disc 1, but i don't have the other three, and when i boot it up in pearpc after i install tiger and it asks me to restart. it takes me back to the first part of installation, what happend?

    P.S.

Oh i partitioned before i installed.

  • Leopard ftw =(

  • would this run on my comp?

    # Processor: Intel Pentium M 725 (1.60GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 400MHz FSB, Dothan core)

    # Chipset: Intel 855GM/GME

    # Wireless: Intel PRO 2200BG Chipset 802.11b/g mini-PCI

    RAM: 2x 256MB DDR333 (Hynix ICs, 2.5-3-3-7 timings)

    Hard Drive: 1.8" 60GB 4200RPM 2MB C

Graphics: Intel Extreme Graphics 2 for Mobile (64MB Shared RAM)

  • it'll run, but not great. =/

  • Why dont you boot your PC into mac os, rather than emulating it? PM TO FIND OUT HOW It's a whole ton faster.

  • cause that's a modified version of OS X, emulated is not, and yes i know about the vanilla kernel for a retail OS X boot but i use AMD so i'm excluded from that, i need a modified kernel for it to work. =/

  • hey this is cool. can u tell me how u did this and tell me everything i need to dl to get this to work and the site?

  • It's a PowerPC emulator called PearPC.

  • yeah, i downloaded the emulator itself from sourceforge and made an ISO from a copy of OS X a friend of mine had.

  • I honestly love the Mac OSX.My issue being in college that I can't afford the prices. Ill use VMWARE to run OSX until I can buy one. I own a copy of Tiger and can't wait till I can get a newer mac. I only own a PC now and its really nice but here's advice to apple and thats LOWER your prices!!!

  • amen to that... BTW nadams, I am also in college and have become a victim of apple's high pricing. =( I've wanted a macbook pro forever but, well you know the rest...

anyway, can i rely on VMWARE to run OSX on

pc, or vista for that matter?

  • yes, look into the OSx86 project, google is your friend. :)

  • were do you go to download

  • Heres some good info, it runs on my pc perfectly with vista.

My Specs: AMD Athlon 64 x2 dual 2.0Ghz

    2gb ram

    geforce 6150SE (integrated graphics) 128MB

  • im not having a contest with u

my comp is a littlee better than urs so then it should work on mine...whered u get it?

  • Thats pretty cool! I always like emulating... stuff.

But seriously, when you click the desktop and drag, that grey thing should move just like the XP equivalent does. I mean that looks sooooooooooo slow. If you want to give OSX a go you need to dual boot without vista running in the background. Kill your VISTA partition and dual boot OSX86 with XP for teh games

  • but i like vista, and i don't need OS X for anything, this project was just for learning purposes.

  • honest to god, my bottom of the line new imac could kick the piss out of ur "windows", of "EPIC FAIL" as some say. And yea, i can run windows without hax, FLAWLESSLY!!! lolz i iz t0tal haX0rz

  • i'm running pearpc with a software program which is just as much a hack paralells or vmware is, hell, even Macs need boot camp to run windows, and really? you think your bottom of the line iMac can beat my PC? let's take a game for example, can you run Crysis on gamer's settings? cause i can, and how much did you pay for your Mac again?

  • dude vista sucks

if you can find the tie to get that on vista spend some time to get a job and buy a imac.

  • why u telling someone people like using sucks ? if they like it whats the problem ? perhaps i should go around youtube saying OSX sucks ?

  • i have a job thank you very much, but that doesn't mean i'm going to waste my money on a computer i don't need, not singling out Macs though, i wouldn't buy a Dell or HP computer either.

  • As a OSX virtual machine, Is pearpc better then vmware player in performance?

  • depends on your computer and the distro of OSx86.

  • how do i uninstall this completely and go back to vistas origianl theme

  • ITs not a theme you idiot its a boot youd need to reinstall VISTA

  • it's not an install either, it's an emulator, and it should be as simple as deleting your pearpc directory and possibly any disk images if you saved them somewhere else.

  • i have a question when u run it and download stuff will it save it ????

  • yes, it's exactly like a regular mac with a virtual hard disk.

  • Theres a magical program that records your screen its call camtasia studio go get it

  • i did in my first pearpc vid and it slowed it down, which is why i used this method for this video.

  • Is installing mac os x legal? I heard it's more legal then making a hackintosh but I'm not sure and I would like to install mac os x on a pc instead of buying an over priced macbook which linux doesn't run well on.

  • Oops I meant using pearpc to do so

  • Yes, it's legal =)

  • lol mine is intel core dual 2 extrem 2.8ghz 12mb cache 4gb ram nvidia 8800gs 512mb 4.0pixel shared open Gl 3.00 250gb hard drive 7200rpm

  • Your RAM and graphics card (only because of VRAM, my onboard has the same specs otherwise) are really the only things where you're hardware is noticeably better than mine, but I could catch up pretty easily, especially since my motherboard supports Phenom(quad core) and up to 32GB RAM, oh and my hard drive is better. XP

    haha.

  • I have intel core2quad 2,4 ghz, 2 gigs of ram and radeon x1950 pro graphics, and i gave the pearpc 1 gig ram, and with this config everything is soo fine. The system profiler says that i have 1,5 ghz ppc g3 processor. I'm using it for some applications that requires a mac. For example the pwnage tool. So It's really cool now for me. The only problem is.. the right mouse click is not enabled. I had the 4x cd version tiger, and i installed it with a pached pear, that has enabled ide1_ controllers.

  • I have a question!

I'm on an imac right now, but i'd like to get mac osx.4 to run on a laptop that i have. i believe the laptop is running either windows 2000 or xp. if you could pm me and tell me how, that'd be great. thanks!

  • ahh to many comments!!!!!!!!!!!

    fghajfadojojkngdsssghhfdhbh!

  • its slow as fuck because your computer blows fat balls.

Athlon 64 3000+ (2.0GHz), 1GB RAM (DDR SDRAM), geforce 5700LE (the AGP one, 128MB VRAM) and 90 gigs hard drive space 7200 RPM, running Windows Vista.

    xDD

    heres my laptop specs

    core2duo 2.6 GHz 3gb of ram nvidia 8800mgt and a 300 gig 7200 rpm:)

    hahahaha!

and i bought this piece like a year ago.

  • That was my old hardware, i got it for about $200 3 years ago, my new hardware is: Athlon 64x2 4600+ (2.6GHz dual core, motherboard supports Phenom quad core) 2GB RAM (DDR2, motherboard supports up to 32GB), onboard Radeon HD 3200 (256MB VRAM, 4.0 pixel/vertex shaders), and a 320GB SATA 7200 RPM HDD. I also got it all for around $250.

  • every body likes mac cuz there cool and i agree its just macs are a bunch of money but if they were as much as pc's every body in the world would get 1 and hay macs dont get viruse's so who needs to pay like 60 bucks on viruse protection

  • Macs are pretty and have a lot of cool features, but I still prefer PCs, I agree that if Apple decreased the price on their computers that their sales would skyrocket, but I and many others would still stick to our preference, Macs can and do get viruses, they're just not as widespread as PC viruses, and all of my anti-malware(virus, spyware etc) software was free, and I've never had a single malware problem on my own machines ever.

  • Also I got my computer for around $300 from parts, and it's more powerful than the new $1,799 iMac (not quite as powerful as the $2,199 one yet), it might not be as pretty but I can upgrade it.

  • I heard that there is no virus for mac.

  • Not true, it is much harder for a Mac to get a serious threatening virus, but it's still possible, and even Macs get loads of spyware and adware just like everyone else, and even minor viruses.

  • I see. Just the fact that "it is much harder for a Mac to get a serious threatening", I feel safer using my mac than my PC. Last time I checked, there was no known virus reported for Mac. (BTW I have antivirus software on my PC but not on my mac) Anyway, thanx for ur input.

  • What I mean by that is, most pornographic websites will have viruses specifically made for Windows, why? Because more people have Windows than OS X and they want to infect as many people as possible, if you stay away from those and illegal activity (downloading music, movies etc) then you shouldn't have anything to worry about, like I said, I myself have never had a single malware problem on any of my PCs ever. =)

  • My imac has 160 mb of ram and it is fast it has a 333 megahertz processore and today i have finally upgraded to 10.2.8. For all those mac users out there that have an imac g3 1st generation i would not upgrade over 10.3.7 and my hard drive is only 6 gigibytes :]

  • If you really wanted it to go faster use either Panther (10.3) or Tiger for Intel (10.4).

  • I got it running perfectly once in increased the RAM, and since it was a PowerPC Mac the Intel version of Tiger wouldn't work, next up is Leopard (10.5). =)

  • Tell me how did u get everything mac os x ??

  • Hate Mac OS in general before. After installing it on PC, it is a great opportunity for those who wants to learn MAC in general. Get OS Tiger, its pretty stable.

  • Its so slow because you gave it 128 MB RAM! Give it at least 256 MB1

  • Yeah, I upped it to 1GB, it's much faster now. =)

  • why would u waste your time with this im just curious

  • What makes you think it was a waste of time? I've learned a LOT because of this project, it's opened up a lot of opportunities for me, and I had a good time while doing it.

  • hey!! where did you get tiger!!!..i tried to get it but i still cant do it!!..tell me!..please..and how to do thaat

  • Great point, same here. It's definitely an experience. I think the funnest part is figuring it out. It took me forever to get 10.5.2 running on my inspiron 1521. I wanted to prove to my roommate who is a mac enthusiast that it was possible and he hates it, because it's like I'm "sneaking into his territory."

  • I know what you mean, another thing is, before, the only reason I could give for preferring PCs was that I had never really used a Mac before, but since this project I know more about OS X and Macs in general then most lifetime Mac users and can provide valid and reasonable answers as to why I prefer PCs, which really helps determine who's reasonable and who's just a fanboy.

  • dude can you msg me telling me how to do this...?

  • I almost did that, but I accidentally bought the intel version of Mac OS X so it didn't work.

  • hehehehhehehehhehe....

  • c-000000000000000l

  • u cant run shit on vista, vista is shit, winxp rules all

vista eats up cpu and ram for graphic expression, fuck that

  • I haven't come across a singe application that I couldn't run on Vista, in fact I now run Vista on every computer in my house along with Linux (Ubuntu, Sabayon) every now and then.

Yeah, it can use a lot of resources but it can also use very few depending on how it's configured, I've been able to get it running beautifully on 7 year old machines.

  • what a fucking poser.. if you want a PC own a pc ... go buy a mac and grow up

  • I'm confused about what you just said, I do own a PC, and how would buying a Mac equal growing up? Also, in what way am I a poser?

  • Watch my "How to set up internet on PearPC" video, not the XP/Wireless one, it clearly shows OS X running fairly close to native speed, maybe not compared to an Intel Mac, but to the PowerPC G3/G4 it's emulating, it's quite close.

  • It's not meant to be a Mac replacement, it's for evaluation purposes mainly, for people who have never used OS X before and want to see what it's like.

Also it's not slow with a little tweaking. ;)

  • Hell yeah, I've just joined the Army and with my sign on bonus of $33.000, I'm gonna buy me a macbook!!!! Fuck windows.

  • Please don't get a MacBook Air, go with a Pro, you have the money.

  • i wonder if you download this will you have to get a new printer/scanner

  • Nope! it finds your printer at once just klikk Alt+P on your document and you can choose your printer, then just press enter and done.

  • Hi, can you help me? it worked for me running tiger on vista but couple sec later or sometimes minutes my mouse wil freeze down and can't do anything with my mouse, it just stand stil! please help me

  • Same shit for me.

  • That glitch used to happen to me if I'd alt+tab away from PearPC, I can't remember how I fixed it, I'll let you guys know if I remember...

  • it takes over 90 seconds to boot??(1:19 - 2:52) gay.

    on the contrary...

The fastest Windows-running platform is a Mac (Wall Street Journal)

  • To be fair, that's with G3 emulation and 256MB Virtual RAM, it boots in about 25 seconds now that I've upped all of that, also regarding that statistic, they are speaking of a native install of Windows, not emulation, and that doesn't include custom built PCs, which are far more affordable, easier and cheaper to upgrade, and can have specs far above any Mac on the market.

  • does it include the mac drivers for internet, sound, video, ect.?

  • All of the Mac kexts are included, the problem is not all of the hardware works out of the box, internet is possible as is video, but sound isn't possible for most people.

  • Did updating screw yours up? I updated tiger on my pc and then the screen like froze so i rebooted and i got an error. Do you know what happened/If you can update?

  • Updating worked fine for me, open your config file and set machargs to -v for a verbose boot, there will probably be a kernel panic, tell me what it says on the few lines before that.

  • Just a question from a total n00b...

Being that newer versions of Mac OS X (Leopard, Tiger, so on...) are being made to run on Intel processors, would that mean that you could some how run Mac OS X on x86 emulators like QEMU which emulates Intel processors?

  • Ironic your name is TheTechSupportGeek2 but you say your a n00b, anyway, it is possible to do what you suggested, but not with a retail version of OS X, the reason is simply put, BIOS, PCs and all PC emulators and virtual machines use BIOS while Macs use EFI with OpenFirmware (some PCs have a UEFI setting but it's not the same), there is however, a hacked version of OS X called OSX86 that will work in any PC VM and can even be installed natively to a PC, but it's illegal...

  • It is running really quite slow. I suggest getting a better system. I suppose you have by now? How's it running?

I've just installed Panther myself, also on Vista Ultimate. I have a more powerful system than this, but I must admit I'm not overly impressed with the speed. I'm thinking about installing Tiger as I've heard it runs faster on PearPC, but I'm also thinking what's the point?

  • Yes it runs quite well now, check my "how to install internet on PearPC" for more on that, it's the first one, not the one on XP.

  • 128mb RAM? According to Wikipedia, Tiger isn't supposed to run on anything less than 256mb RAM. I got kernel panics on my iMac G3 before I upgraded the RAM so how did you get that working?

  • I actually installed it on a faster setting and saved the virtual hard disk and ran it on a slower virtual machine (PearPC).

  • Just get a fucking mac!!!!

  • Just shut your fucking mouth!!!

    Respect the art of geekism.

  • Get fucked cunt

  • That was to simargl im not taking ur advice cunt!!!

  • Here Here *high 5*

  • Watch my "you want me to get a Mac eh?" video.

  • yo do you have halo 3

  • Yes I do.

  • GOD .. that Gr8 ...

Umm But ill need someone to tell me about that Program ... or the way cuz it seems Very Hard To Do .. i read a lot about this and have a GOOD pc but i need the guide in this

  • Thanks very much my friend, i want to get in the world of macs but firstly like i saw in an emulator.

  • i just install this mac to my windows xp computer

    and god!!

    i prefer 100 times MAC

    mac rules!!!

  • how did you install mac on your windows vista comp?

  • BUY A MAC!!! ITS WORTH IT

  • Watch my "you want me to get a Mac eh?" video.

  • I need a HINT about HOW did you do that .. i spend all my time trying to do that in a good way but i didnt get anything YET and lil PUSH will help me .. thanx anyway

  • Watch my "you want me to get a Mac eh?" video.

  • someone needs to get laid... :D

  • Throw away vista!!

  • Lame get a real mac!

  • Watch my "you want me to get a Mac eh?" video.

  • I can't get pearpc, mainly the control panel, working in Vista Ultimate. Even under compatibility mode. How did you do this?

  • Oh, and isn't 128MB a bit too low for Tiger?

  • Try running PearPC in full screen at your native resolution, it should disable Aero temporarily that way and give you more processing power for MacOS.

  • would it work on virtual pc?

  • you are emulating mac os while with my mac i am running the real windows os natively so that is the same as running VMWARE or Parellells so what if you can emulate back in system 8 we were able to emulate win 98 se now we can run the real thing and not miss out on the performance lags you are getting emulating mac os . emulating sucks the real deal is way better. i will give you that it can be done and i applaude your efferts but nothing beats the real thing nothing period.

  • cool

  • you said to ankit 3000:

Sure, I'll help you in a PM, chances are you'll have to configure it manually like I did, without the PearPC control panel.

    please PM me too!

i have 2 computers, one with vista and one with XP. on xp it works but on vista not!

please pm me the same pm as you did to ankit3000!

    greetings!

  • Oh man, I forgot about PearPC.

  • you can try safely over clocking CPU by 2 or 3% test for stability and it should run faster thats if you built your own pc OEM pcs are locked out of that function
