The original bass line is what makes the song and even though covers are up to the band doing them, this is a song that NEEDS that bass line regardless of who is doing it.
A very interesting take on an old classic though, I'll have to admit. Pretty rockin'.
Very nice. I would have preferred to have the songs trademark bass line more prominent in the mix though. LOL, the video aspect ratio is off somehow, and it makes everyone look short and heavier than reality.
...and you played the solo differently and you don't have a Rickenbacker and the bass player should be stage left and no one has a soul patch. Oh the humanity!
The whole magic of this song as played by the smithereens is the bass line. It's mostly Eminor7. but at the end when a C# is played, it shifts the feel to a Gmajor7. Some how thes meat heads left off that one magical note
It strays form the original 50-60's Rock influence of the SMitereens (like BUddy Holly, Elvis COstello) and injects dome 80's rock influence (Eddie vanHalen-like solo)....interesting!
he screwed up the lyrics. Plus needs more bass. Also, I hate when people refuse to learn solo!!! This isn't Iron Maiden.

@Drewriders I agree, what does this solo have to do with the song?

Is the dude playing bass one of the dudes that builds choppers on that tv show?
The guitarist looks like my church choir director. You guys rocked it out though.
