there are a few things wrong with this movie why have they made freddy so weak as a human? i mean looking like he's going to cry the old freddy didn't give a shit what the parents did to him. I don't think this is a terrible movie, but I prefer the original. I think too many scenes were ripped off from the original(bath tub and freddy coming from wall for instance). The thing is, I think the one true Freddy is Robert Englund; he was Freddy for EVERY movie cept this one. However, I do really admire Jackie in his role as Freddy; his dark personality is so menacing and frightning, something not seen as much with the goofy one liner Freddy. I do love NOES though and hope a sequel is made

When you do any kind of remake, there are scenes from the orginal that are iconic so they have to be included, I actually remember hearing Robert Englund himself liked Jackie's preformance as Freddy, but after eight movies, numerous comercials and promos, and a TV Show as Freddy, Robert really wanted to retire and pass the glove onto a new actor

And as I've heard, they've cut out a lot of his comical wit. That's what MADE Freddy Krueger such an entertaining murderer.

The first Scream was good, mainly because it was the first one, it wasn't cheesed like scream 2 and 3. You can obviously tell that Scream ended off the first movie, but in stead they gave it another twist to make more money.

@Johnlindsey289 My whole point is that while a sequel is fine, once they start making 3, 4, 5, 6, etc etc they turn into pump and dump movies and have nothing to show for it but lameness. Even the first Nightmare on Elm Street was better than the 2nd, but the 2nd one was still alright. the first one was definitely the best because it was darker.

I have loved Freddy since I was a kid. When I heard this was coming out I was worried that it would suck and didn't watch it. Eventually, curiousity got the best of me. I liked the film. I didn't love it, but I did enjoy that the character was darker and different. I think that by doing that it was reinvented a little, and I feel that it distanced itself enough from Roberts films that it didn't tarnish my love for the original films. The only thing I didn't like was the makeup on Freddy.

from every review ive seen from serious horror movie fans this movie sounds fantastic. straight out of the first two without most of that sadomasochistic humor freddy bestowed on his victims in the later movies. the way the charachters look is amazing, the way they tryed to make sense of the dreaming and actually did, ingenious. freddys voice...holy.fucking.shit. that voice alone is terrifying. i havent seen this because i was really skeptical, but i need to see it now.

I love the original movie franchise and unlike alot of the hardcore Nightmare fans, I actually enjoyed this. The only thing that bothered me a little bit is freddy's drastic change in character. He's not humorous anymore and they changed is appearance, I really liked the old look and humor of Freddy, but whatever, still a good watch I guess.
