I was there, working in the port, and these protestors did nothing but disrupt everyday citizens from making a living. The protestors cost the taxpayers a lot of money, and put theirselves in more danger than they realize. I've watched about 20 of these videos and I have to say the police espicially in this video show an unusual gentleness by merely throwing the hippies back into the crowd. Kind of reminds me of peeling my unwanted cat off of my pillow or something. The police and our government (generally speaking) deal extremely fairly with these protesters from what I have seen. Take a look at what china does to protesters and you will appreciate how protected we are in comparison.

I believe in American law - under which the Pres has the power and duty to send troops when he feels the country s in danger. Whether or not the rest of the world agrees is irrelevant. But the entire topic is off the subject. This video portrays people attempting to block a roadway and being removed. Why they are blocking the roadway does not change the fact that the action is illegal.

US law also states that we must abide by treaties. One such treaty is that of the UN charter, where the US agreed to abide by International law. And by the way blocking a road way if one has a permit to protest can be legal. Brutality only occurs when an officer steps outside of the realm of legal use of force. Using pepper spray and batons to force a group of resisting citizens to obey lawful orders does not constitute illegal use of force. Actually, I can guarantee the if a large group of individuals blocked the street and then resisted when the police tried to arrest/remove them the group would be sprayed and hit - the term is pain compliance. It is both a common practice in law enforcement and completely legal.
