  • Ella var stor, vilken röst! Det svänger.

  • Got this woman has the most amazing vocal reach.

  • C'est un beau chanson qui va vivre pendant longtemps. C'est magnifique.

Desolee si j'ai eu tort quand je c'ai ecrive.

  • great song!

  • Maravilhosamente lindo!

  • Entre comparar a tua voz e apreciá-la... o melhor é esticar um pé na montanha e o outro na lua;e dia e noite sorrir pro teu cantar!

  • sweet voice ...... =o)

  • je voulais dire pas d'autre mots que sublime

  • merci uzomad... sublime quoi dire d'autre ...

  • I love this song <3

  • Ella singing Cole Porter is there anything better?!!!

  • wonderful sound and a great song. thanks.

  • Bellissima!!!!!!!!!

  • My new favorite song

  • Imagine being Ella Fitzgerald and still be made to sit in the back and eat in the back where only colored folks where allowed to eat. Sad.

  • I like this song its epic :)

  • search 'the mischiefs - im trouble' big tune that is

  • Oh someone (male) bring back real romance, we do need it not everything is sex.

  • Thank G*d there were no judges sitting around admonishing Ella to "take it to the next level"!!! She knew exactly how and where to take a Cole Porter song, take it or leave it.

    I'll take it. 24/7/365!

  • Just... amazing.. <3

  • This song has been stuck in my head since I heard Haley Reinhart (from American Idol) cover this song with her school's jazz band, before she was ever on the program.

  • @eyesk8er

I'll try to include the lyrics in the actual video. I've never done it before but I'll give it a go.

  • I've tried to include subtitles but Youtube prevents me. I think it has something to do with the copyright. Oh well. Enjoy the video and the lyrics in the "show more" section. I'm really glad this video has received so many hits and so many positive comments. Ella would be proud!

  • @eyesk8er What a ridiculous criticism! The lyrics are there, what more do your want?

  • @eyesk8er pretty pathetic that that is what "troubles you". Get a life.

  • @eyesk8er i agree

  • @eyesk8er its in the description

  • find it troubling lolz

  • I guess 9 gagamonsters walked around...

  • It is not real how well this woman sings this kind of songs - got this in her veins flowing

  • "Night and Day" nothing beats a Cole Porter tune....especially when Ella is singing! Just makes my heart go thump, thump!

  • anyone know where to find this version intrumental or a karoke version etc? :DDD i need it for a project...:/

  • I'll give you a WOW and raise you a ZOWIE!

  • There are nine people who don’t like this? WTF?

  • Wowwwww, so beautiful voice, and so wonderful song, I love it. Thanks.

You cannot compare Ella with the rest of your selection...she out shines them completely. And you missed Sarah Vaughan

  • LOVE IT! I am doing a report on her!

  • It's beautiful beyond description, Ella always brightens my day. Thanks for posting this video.

  • I could listen to this song night and day ;-*

  • best version of this song I've heard, Always loved the song, now I found an artist to match

  • my god what an incredible ear this woman had. What a beautiful vocal instrument. It's listening to stuff like this that makes life's looniness bearable. thanks for posting

  • she, and this song, moves my heart and soul.

  • Immortal performance thank god for songs like this

  • i love !

  • This is aside from the music... but did you do the animation at the beginning with the vines growing? It's cool - what program did you use?

  • when did she die?

  • 8 people use their ears for other things rather than listening to excellance Perhaps hanging big danggly earings from or somethin

  • Awesome!!!

  • Wonderful!

  • 8 people don't like good music

  • Classy lady, magnificent voice.

  • I think we have people that are quite talented they just don't get contracted because of how shallow the music industry has become. If my generation would open their eyes to this and stop prescribing mindless consumption of "popular" music- the industry would bring back the artists with true talent

  • I really wish I could find the version in the New 2011 Honda CR-Z Commercial...sounds like Muse.

  • Compare this with Billie's version: still a great interpretation with the original busy beat matching an urgent lyric, but Billie has that passion that no-one else can match.

  • Love this music...grew up with it, got away from it and now back listening to the best sounds around. Even have a grand daughter loving 40's music. She knows what good music is ;-)

  • just like that.

  • Dad so loved this hit. He danced a jig whenever he heard it, then grabbed mother and waltzed with her all through the house. They were lovers.

  • @PaulGiffs Aww I love it! Reminds me of my mom, brother, sis and me walking into my grandparents house and catching grandma on grandpa's lap, tickling his chin while he giggled.

  • @PaulGiffs happy thought for u glad to hear ur parents will always be dancing in ur dreams

  • @PaulGiffs - magic ! :)

  • @PaulGiffs Your comment made me burst into tears! Your Dad knew what exactly these lyrics meant. Dance and love more and harder than ever should be allowed. In love. Go for it. Whether you are fortunate to have him or her with you or not. Because it does burn inside. Night and Day.

  • @PaulGiffs I have a feeling your dad knew ---"under the hide of me therer´s an oh such a hungry yearning burning inside of me.and it´s torment won´t be through til you let me spend my life making love to you---Day and Night...We were born thanks to this,do you find it offensive?

  • Que mulher de voz linda!

  • Yes! I changed the likes from 666 to 667. Anyhow, this is an incredible song.

  • Voice

  • @ConnecticutsBest Thats it my friend....fortunally there still young people with good taste for music.

  • Ella does it all! Live her voice.

  • 6 people were so amazed by her voice they accidentally clicked disliked

  • This is a fantastic recording. The drummer is swinging during an intro that's so simple, yet so profound. Then the band enters and it's like a feather softly falling. Throughout the tune, Ella does a great job elongating each note into the next, giving this standard that ethereal feeling. Hats off to whoever arranged the tune, truly a work of art.

  • hola Ella eres la unica reyna....u are my queen.......imelda de Mexico

  • One of the best songs ever written in the voice of the best singer ever born!

  • Oh, my god....I believe Beyonce, Rihanna, Madonna, and all those rap singers never heard this....or they would be ashamed singing the trash they sing.

Porter.....why didnt I live in your days??? Have to listen all the crap I hear today in radios, MTV and Grammy´s awards.

  • @masefu0 That's hilarious. I agree. Im a young person and I can't understand the music out today. This is when women were graceful and music was left to people who could actually sing, and no who could not would ever try it!

  • @ConnecticutsBest

I also can't understand the music that is out today either. Songwriters don't even write well-written lyrics today like they use to. Today it's like everyone wants to be a singer . . . . as long as they have an okay voice they think they can get out there in the music industry. But back then you had to be more than just okay and singers like Ella Fitzgerald defintely showed that she was more than okay! She was and will always be the BEST!

  • @ConnecticutsBest I grew up in the 1940s and 50s with this music. I like to hear these comments from young people as it says that this music will go on forever!.

  • I didn't realize she was so good. What an awesome epic talent!

  • gusto...tecnica....colore...una sola parola: SPLENDIDA!

  • I heard this in Jumanji

  • Love this song and Ella sings it so well.

  • boy is she smooth!a lady that had a tough life and did great.

  • boy is she smooth!

  • I love her voice..I grew up on her.

  • Justin Bieber sang Nigth and Day also?

  • Ella Fitzgerald is a romantic legend! You have such a beautiful voice. This voice is forever timely. You really are a divine Diva in the 20th century!

  • My goodness!!! She can sing!! She can REALLY sing!!! She blows rihanna and the others rite out of the water!! And I'm 18 yrs old saying this, I going to go get her music rite now!!!..

  • @bakacakeychan

Ella Fitzgerald is waaaaaaaaay better than Rihanna and the other so called "diva" singers that are out there in the music industry today. Ella's voice was perfect in every way and didn't have to dress in a provocative way in order to sell her music. Ella had more of a great love for music than most of these singers today and you could see that whenever she performed. I recommend that you buy her albums! Buy "Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Cole Porter Songbook" set to start off.

  • @MusicLoverBrian1 Thats a cool opinion. I personally enjoy all of the female singers

today. I think that they are all good in their own way. But I agree that ,most of them arent the divas that the media has made them out to be(b/c the media makes those labels not the singers, sadly). And of course the labels are the ones that control a lot of the clothing choices as well.

  • @bakacakeychan Lol,its good to know that you like ella. I personally like her as well as alicia keys, rihanna and many others. i feel they are all great in their own different way.

  • one of my all time favorites, in dancing by fred astaire in singing ella. who else? the master forever. thanks for uploading - even an inspiration to me, i thought i did it well.. but .... boa...

  • Wow, I absolutely enjoy this song! The beginning has one of the most catchiest beats I had ever heard from an old song. This song is a Solid Oldie!

  • Timeless

  • das lied is so wunderschön.... die stimme, die begleitung: wundervoll!

  • Beautiful!

  • great Ella, she's immortal

  • I feel very sad that when I search for Ella's performance of this beautiful song by typing "Night and Day" I'm forced to acknowledge the existence of Little Wayne. :(

  • @caiopfreitas LOL! ain't that the truth!

  • @caiopfreitas I had to look up who Little Wayne was... I'm in full agreement with you... Ella's singing is lovely...

  • @caiopfreitas Makes you sad doesn't it. That's the world we live in. Too bad.

  • By far the best rendition of this beautiful song; many do it well, but no one does it like Ella.

  • :-)

  • that muffled tom w/ the pizz strings and ellas vabrato is like the smoothest thing i ever heard

  • anything cole .....

  • Ginny Simms - Night and Day (recording from the 1940s)

    watch?v=yKJIxn-wsts

    thanks and reagrds

  • Definitely one of the best versions of the song... I love bouncing around YouTube to hear all the variations of this classic. Have you heard the version from U2?

  • @lostpear

Its unbelieveble:) (I am : probably the only one)

but I had never heard U 2's version...

I am so glad I was reading about here.

What a Performance from U 2 and What a voice.

How he sings it, with the whole heart and soul.

  • mmvh

  • bbok1208 if at age u like Ella then Joe & Ella album Speak Love would be something to you.

  • When I was youngerish (I'm 16 right now) all my friends were listening to that Brittany Spears, Blink 182 and more junk, but I was always faithful to Ella and the rest of Jazz. Why listen to fake music when you can hear pure gold in song?

  • @bbok1208 I'm 19 now, and I've just gotten to accept that you can like crappy music like that. It doesn't have to define you. When I was younger I listened to nothing but old music. (define old, however you'd like), but you can like everything. You don't have to just listen to this. I listen to Billie Holiday one second, then Metallica the next. Its OK

  • night and day and i am in the mood for love. These two music, lyrics carries me off on the cruise liner-longing for the sun humphrey bogart

  • Wow! What a voice! What a song! Probably the greatest song ever written. Such passion, such emotion. If Cole Porter wrote nothing else but this song, he would still be remembered as one of the greats!

  • Ella the one and only!!!! love and respect from germany

  • It really does not get much better than this, if at all.

  • Very nice!!!!

  • She is unbelievable.... so classy so talented. But like a lot of singers in the 50s, Frank, Dinah Washington, Nat King Cole etc... the record companies thought violins were a good idea... They watered down the swing. But hey it's still Ella.

  • la mejor voz... !

  • Hate the opening, no need for it as its distracting. Not a big fan of scat and thought it was going there. The rest of the song gives Miss Fitzgerald an opportunity to flex her artistic muscle. Her version is the best of them all. Ella Fitzgerald was blessed with God given, remarkable talent. Wish I could've seen her in person.

  • I love this song!!!

  • Nobody but nobody, not even Sinatra, sings this song as Porter wrote it. He synchopates the rhythm and all the famous interpretations smooth it out. SSorry Cole

  • @firegroggremlin . I think Astaire sings it note for note.

  • Bioshock woohuuu

  • You are the one, Ella!

  • Nobody sings like Ella!!!!!!!!!

  • The perfect version of this song!

  • Ella you are the one!! i love you!! bring back this wonderful music,

  • Wonderful, great Ella.

  • Day and night, night and day, why is it so That this longing for you follows wherever I go In the roaring traffics boom In the silence of my lonely room I think of you Day and night, night and day Under the hide of me Theres an oh such a hungry yearning burning inside of me And this torment wont be through Until you let me spend my life making love to you Day and night, night and day My live, My friend, My love...
  • Fred, Ella, and the French version sung by Damia

  • @Gydinglight12 Thank you for the information on Damia...wow...her French version was amazing as well.

  • Can't remember the composer but one of the great composers in the Songbook series that Ella did said "I never realized just how good my songs were until I heard Ella sing them".

  • a legendary Singer.. :) is TRUE!! nothing can compare with her ... feemenin assume soft delicate voice is honey to my ears ..LoVe eLLA foReveR!

  • Does anyone know of a good karaoke instrumental recording of Night and Day in the Ella Fitzgerald style? Any leads would be greatly appreciated! I'm trying to avoid something that sounds too synthesized, and ideally something with the big band background feel to it! =)

  • so smooth. thanx 4 the up load

  • does anybody now in which year this song was performed at first?

  • @Cloudjumper 1932

  • @Cloudjumper Thanks that you are interested, it was first sung by the greatest dancer Mr. Fred Astaire singing it for Ms, Ginger Rogers in the 1936 movie The Gay Divorcee

  • "*GREAT* sound upload! Thanks for posting (w/Lyrics).

  • where are the lyrics ???

  • Brilliant version. Nelson Riddle was also great arranger.

  • Hard to chose between Ella and Billie.....I guess it depends on the mood that I'm in.

  • @MonkeyCurler2

that is a tough one. I feel the same way

  • Lovely...thank you :)

  • Should have been in fallout 3

  • my favourite version of this song!

  • Excelente!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • yuppppppppppp she's awesome, brilliant !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    i love her

  • So beautiful!

  • We just don't seem to have talent like this any-more..... beautiful voice.

  • @Puddingbat No, we don't, she was a voice in a billion.

  • she's soooo awesome

  • Thank you mr.porter

  • I miss her day in and day out.

  • she's friggin fantastic !!

  • I'm in love with this song!

  • i love this

  • Love this lady what is so awesome is she was one of the most humble performers. Always giving credit to other people, how can you not love her for that?

  • @johnyzero2000That`s true.

    Ella was great.

I think that the biggest talents are

    usually humble.

For instance: Nat King Cole and Tony Bennett

  • Beautiful lyrics song by a beautiful voice.
