you make a gradient basically get the gradient tool and chooce light grey to middle tone grey and then hold shift and drag the line from the top of the page to the bottom and that should do it :)

ok i mayb able to help im on photoshop cs3 so it mite not help, in the top left when u have the rectangle shape selected there should be about 3 different icons under where it says 'File Edit ....etc' click the icon that says 'shape layers'

Great vids. Quick Question. I pretty new to this but capable. When i create the shape, transform it then add gradient overlay, it leaves a black outline of the shape all the way around. I obviously using the wrong setting somewhere, but where? I'm using pc, PS CS3.

any help would be appreciated.

ummm...it could just be the shape outline kinda like when yuo first draw it, try hitting crtl + h, i'm not sure exactly but that might help
