Fear and Loathing is not a movie about drugs. Illegal narcotics might drive the plot, but the story is more about the failure of THE AMERICAN DREAM than the drugs involved in discovering that reality. The drugs and alcohol were more of a plot expedient than a plot enhancer. Vegas is still a terrible and miserable place without LSD.

Where is Spun? I know I might get a lot of shit for this but Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas wasn't as mind blowing as people say it is. Would I watch it again? Maybe but I wouldn't rate it a 10, everyone just seems to like it because like Fight Club it's trendy. Only I would chose Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas over fucking Fight Club any day.

Both works suggest the profound realization that the American dream is dead. The drugs only enhance the experience.

It's an ok movie and I tried real hard to like it the way my friends do but I just can't and need to be honest because jumping into the bandwagon is not my thing. I thought some parts were funny and interesting like the incident with Christina Ricci's character and Tobey Maguire but really it wasn't absolutely amazing to me like it is to other people, further proof of this was that I was falling asleep.

What I hated was what the main character does to the stripper that was just horrible. I think Valley of the Dolls should be in there and Gia and Sid and Nancy and the movies you mentioned.
