I wish people would remember how the Palestinians ran into the streets to celebrate when 9/11 happened. If they truly wanted peace with the US then I think they should have chosen that moment to make amends.
Also there have been times when Israel has offered the Palestinians most of the land they wanted but Palestine refused to accept anything less than 100% of the demands.

And you need to get your own facts straight because during the 2000 peace summit the Israeli's offered up most of the land the Palestinians wanted, so the point that they weren't making concessions at all is ludicrous. Arafat refused the offer and refused to make a counter-offer. I fail to see how this is an example of giving concession after concession.

If palestine becomes a state then they have a constitution and recognition among all foreign countries. What does that mean? well, it means they got to print their own currenty, and sell their own government bonds to raise money for: roads, schools, hospitals, and other infrastructure projects. Like any state, they will have a fully functioning government and MILITARY (i.e., army, navy, airforce, and marines) LIke any other state, Palestine will and should have the ability to purchase arms

If Palestine becomes a state, they will have the ability to form a strong military just like any other country does. Then, Israel will be surrounded by Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and now a fully functioning Palestine who all want their blood. If Isreal is smart, they will find a ONE state solute and make peace with muslims. Everyone can and should live on the land.

@CharlesDickens99 everyone advocates a two state solution, but everyone with a brain (i.e Noam but never Alan) realise that from any realistic perspective, a two state "solution" is impossible and would never become attainable to a working degree. So yea, Chompsky is "down" with peace in the middle east, but he knows you can't have it until the Jews either leave or just let Palestians live there, the ball has always been in there court (countryless Refuggees v.s ISRAEL a developed powerhouse) .

@backtohali : The Jews don't have to leave for there to be peace the Middle East, there has to be an equal division of power and land, simple as that. Both States will have to sign a Treaty, and UN soldiers should be put on the ground to see that the Treaty is enforced. This one sided affair with Israel holding all the power and refusing to let it go can no longer be tolerated. America should remove herself from the process because she is incapable of being an honest broker.

I am very impressed what the intelligence of Norm Chomsky from the interviews I have seen on independent news. This guy is never be invited on corporate media political shows. I believe he would mop the floor with political pundits and ideologue. What Chomsky does is put the Israel/US relationship in prospective.
