claytronics were originally made for communication. The idea was, when you call a friend on youre cell, the claytronics should make a 3-d version of the person you call so jeg kan see who you talk to and likewise the ther way.
This isn't real yet, but people at CMU and Intel are working on the underlying technology. The ad is an "artistic interpretation" of technology put together by grad students; "claytronics" will probably be available in some form in the future, if they can find the right market. The idea for the implementation, last I heard, was to use millimeter-scale glass beads with the necessary components inside to function as robots.
the car they made is ugly as hell but i like the concept. Just it shouldnt be given to board room execs ever, else we'll end up with more ugly crap cars in america.
