  • claytronics were originally made for communication. The idea was, when you call a friend on youre cell, the claytronics should make a 3-d version of the person you call so jeg kan see who you talk to and likewise the ther way.

  • This isn't real yet, but people at CMU and Intel are working on the underlying technology. The ad is an "artistic interpretation" of technology put together by grad students; "claytronics" will probably be available in some form in the future, if they can find the right market. The idea for the implementation, last I heard, was to use millimeter-scale glass beads with the necessary components inside to function as robots.
