Yes, finally! I've been into your version of this song for years now and now I'm finally good enough to play it.
It's a mix between your version and Neil Young's, so I play it in double drop-d (sometimes a half step down, because it just sounds too good not to) on a steel-string Taylor and just let that high E - ehm, C# - ring out on all the chords in the verse. Even on one guitar it sounds great. Also, I'm mixing your parts for variations (no picking). Can't quite nail the bridge, yet though.
You guys have great taste in music. I'm still working my way through your'e videos and being reminded of songs I forgot I new how to play. Maybe soon I will post my version of cinnamon girl. I just hope no one compares it to yours.
Hey who gives a damn that you aren't "perfect"....Hell if I wanted perfection I would load a Neil Young CD and kick back.....I have listened to a ton of Cinnamon Girl covers and so far I like the two of you guys the best....Good job....keep it up......
I loved it. I felt the harmonies just befor the solo were a bit iffy but I thought it was great. By the way, Is the guy in the blue shirt useing nylon strings?
No nylon strings here. I agree with you on the vocals...Not our strongest suit. This song in particular is in a very high register which presents an added problem. Thanks for checkin' it out!
Oh, haha! *Sudden realisation* I was watching the wrong guy all the time. It's impossible to miss your D when I'm actually using my eyes for more than decorations.
Oh, yeah. I'll be sure to check out those I haven't seen yet as well.
A minor? Haha, no wonder! That changes things a lot. I'm not sure what you mean by holding the D on the B-string, however. Wouldn't that eliminate the lovely hammer-on on the open A minor?
*Still trying hard* Thanks for the help so far :)
You could do both I guess? In our arrangement, we each do different strumming patterns for the same chords during the verse. If you watch me (bigger ugly dude on the right) during the verse parts, I plant my pinky on that 3rd fret d on the b string and almost arpeggio pick the chords. Listen during Daves's solo and it should jump right out. Or you can strum the fill and do some hammer ons.
Good luck and thanks for checking in our tunes! Hugh
Great harmony between you guys! How long have you been playing together for?
After hearing this, I tried transcribing the song from your video, but got stuck on the part between the verses. Is it... F-G-A-C-D-D-C-B-C-A, and then an extra note or two? I can pick out the single notes, but not all of the chords. In addition, there seems to be no tabs or chords for an acoustic version of this wonderful song :(
I'd love to add this song to my repertoire, and any help be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for the kind comments about our version of this great song!! You have that part correct in terms of the bass notes. I am not sure where you are having a problem. Remember that the C bar chord towards the end of that run holds and only the bass note on the A string drops down to B and back to C. Let me know if you need anything else. I have no idea about tabs for this tune.
Hmm.. ah, I see. Yes, that makes sense. What I can't seem to get to sound right is the A-chord. With this, I should be able to figure out one more piece of the puzzle. Thanks for the help, and keep up the good work!
Props to that...very full sounding and the harmony was excellent. I agree with theerion, sexy mid song tuning. I just saw Trace Bundy play last night and I was thinking at the show when Handmade Groove was going to post a new vid...Glad your back and keep them coming..Peace
tight rendition, fellas... as always, your jams inspire me - great to have you back! oh yeah, and the mid-song tuning - that's sexy, to a guitarist. bravo - 5 stars
I love this version!!! Thank you for posting it. I have put it on my main home Channel page. Everyone should hear this one! Thank you for being a bright spot in my day. Keep them coming!!! His autumnrain and your biggest fan! @-->--
