  • xa i am the 1.000 comment xixixi...i fucking love Tool

  • I love at the end when all you see is darkness enclosing Danny Carey and he has the one drumstick raised, motionless: silent victory after cacophany. So fucking brilliant. Thank God/Doneky for Tool.

  • If i had one wish, It be to watch Tool live in concert........

  • I wish I coulda been there to see this shit. Holy Christ.

  • President Andrew Jackson: 1829-1837 “You are a den of vipers! I intend to rout you out, and by the Eternal God I will rout you out. If the people only understood the rank injustice of our money and banking system, there would be a revolution before morning.”

  • no longer a government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a government by the opinion and duress of a small group of dominant men.”

  • President Woodrow Wilson: 1916 “I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. A great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit. Our system of credit is concentrated. The growth of the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in the hands of a few men. We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated governments in the civilized world. No longer a government by free opinion

  • @mayopubesandwich No. Cause I listen to Tool...Just didn't notice this song until then.

  • maynard is doin the bernie at 5:47 hahahahah

  • This is me and my boyfriend's song :] He chose it and I think that he was right to choose it. <3 I love you baby boy!!

  • BEST SONG FROM TOOL :)

  • Fucking loved their concert. Front row floor the stage becomes a 3d lightshow. had to look up the whole time didn't want to miss anything but there was so much! Must see them for the new album they're planning

  • mecca lecca high, mecca hiney ho

  • MJK's a walking Masterpiece! His silhouette has more power than NY chews in a year...

  • @MrGanstawanabe ... The entire band is a masterpiece... they are the epitome of what a rock band should be... a total musical orgasm if u will... people who haven't seen them live will never understand

  • Justin Chancelor is a fucking beast.

  • @NealyoungbloodMurphy

    Its a big fuckin monster!!!

  • tool is unparalleled

  • danny carey is the maan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • fkn love this song Goooood i wish i was there.. God i mean Tool

  • Ya' know, I've watched this over and over and over again (apart from seeing it performed live a couple times), and it *never* gets old. If anything, it just keeps turning me on more and more. I'm doomed.

  • hate the fact maynard hides in the shadows, i'm a fan of tool but this makes me feel like he's a major pussy as a performer... i know its not the case but still....

  • @bringerofrage really? you are crazy. Tool is that, and that's tool. Maynard up front singing and jumping like Story of the Year would not just not be him, or Tool for that matter. They are perfect as they are... nothing to put it or take out... everything is like it is for a reason. Although, I know what you mean.

  • @jurbina76 maynard in his early years wouldn't hide from the crowd.... this started happening much later in his career. i've read it was due to his son's birth, didn't want to put him through all the hell of having a famous dad or whatever, but then again, maybe he just became paranoid, anxious of being the main focus of the show.

it happens......and not that doesnt make tool being tool, its like saying maynard farts this way and that makes it what he is.....

  • @bringerofrage I was obviously talking about Tool being Tool on stage, but I might have been talking out of my ass because I've only seen them live once and it was after Lateralus, and his kid's comment makes sense, as does him being panaroid.

Now, they are all about the music and not so much about them, like all good bands. Like Dream Thearer, great music, not so great stage presence. The Mars Volta, great music, not that big of a show. Kiss, music suck but live show is great.

  • @bringerofrage I agree with you, but then again, he's a modest person. He wants his band members to get just as much credit as he, which is lacking in rock music today. Tool may be the only bad in which I know who all the members are, and Keenan is letting their skills be seen here.

  • @APC2080xx i guess what ruined it for me was watching RAMMSTEIN play just before TOOL came on stage, it was at a music festival called Big Day Out in Australia this year, fucking big difference, truly enjoyed Rammstein even though i am not a fan. Then by the time TOOL came out... all the excitement had settled, big contrast in performance.

  • @bringerofrage

From the Revolver interview I read, he prefers to stand in the background and let his music and band do the talking. True, it does not work with all bands but Tool has a way of making it work.

  • @Sauere but wouldnt you agree that their concerts would be much better if HE was leading the band? ie a frontman?

  • @bringerofrage No, Because tool is about the music. Not the band.

  • @Akraz and who plays the music? if it was just about the music why not just listen to their cds? can't get better quality music than their cds.... oh please, admit it , you don't just go to a concert to hear their music... that is part of it, but in a concert, you are paying for more than listening to their songs, you experience it and live it through all your human senses, that's what i at least aim for, not for just my ears to be soothed with sounds.

  • @Akraz sorry one last thing lol why do you think even TOOL plays videos and has lasers and lights during their shows? surely if it was just about the music they wouldn't bother doing that .. just my 2 cents, don't have to agree with me, its all cool with me.

  • @bringerofrage I guess because they want the visual backdrop to the music to be visual art, not the players.

  • saw tool live last night ;)

  • no you didnt tool makes an album every five years.

  • listas.20minutos.es/lista/mejores-discos-de-tool-257339/

    VOTE FOR THEM!

  • I love the crazy ass dance he does at the beginning lol

  • no way you could handle this shit on strong acid. just like slater said, when he was talkin' about bonham's 1 hour drum solo.

  • I like.

  • //listas.20minutos.es/lista/mejores-discos-de-tool-257339/

WHICH IS THE BEST TOOL'S SONG? AND THE BEST ALBUM?

  • My heart is beating fast. And I'm not even there. Amazing.

  • This song is about when Pee Wee's playhouse went off the air.

  • first song they played when i saw them live, fucking love this song. Tool is perfection

  • 4:36 until the end is composition at its best.

  • Going to a Tool Concert is like going to church.. Just no Dbags, and pathetic nonsense and charades

  • @JSHIPM4249 true man, my first TOOL concert gave me chills. When ever i hear this song it takes me back to the concert and gives me chills. It was like a religious expirence, i guess you could say

  • @JSHIPM4249 I disagree . . . There are plenty dumbasses and shit bags at Tool concerts, I'm thinking you've never actually been . . . Tourist >.>

  • @annotfatlump Acually Ihave Bean to a TOOL concert.. Unfortunatly only once, Mansfield MA.. No drugs envolved and it was amazing.. Everyone just stood there almost dumbfounded.. It was as if everyone was captivated by the music and there was nothing but respect and awe for the band.. OH how I wish I made it to their latest tour.. Ah well, next time

  • you hear them live or u hear them on a cd the feel is the same

  • Look at Maynard getting his boogie on at 5:45 haha. Adam kills that talk-box by the way!!

  • damn, this is just so good!

  • great performance..... TOOL rulz!!!!!

  • pft. fuck their message or meanings. They're dancing monkeys, do your song and dance, and get off the stage. I think it's a shame that people look to entertainers for philosophy or political advice

  • @Gendo3s2k ???? better than lookin to a catholic priest.

  • @Gendo3s2k these guys are entertainers yes but they put their heart into it. They are proud of their work. What drives them to be entertainers is not women, being famous or being rich. You don't see there faces in their music videos? or their faces on magizines or on TV 24/7. They easily could be on tv, show their faces more but they dont they let the music speak for it self.

  • The Tool show I went to was right after September 11, 2001...omg best time of my life and I'll never forget it! My favorite band of all time.

  • Hey you lied!!! And now me penis hurts.

  • @imrightandwrong dude mine to :O sounds like we both gotta a problem :(

  • the fact that the original video has been removed just goes to show what sad little sheep we all are...bow down

  • awwwwwwwwwww yeeeeeeeeeeeea! lol

  • People always have to wine, complain.. and fight over youtube videos.. Why! ): it's so very saddening. And i'm sure the fans of Tool should be more mature then that. For all of you fighting each other, your ignorance is FLAMING. Don't ever try to be dominant over ones opinion. an if anybodie mizpels alot. hoo givs a fuk? ;Peace & love always.. Mofogachoga.

  • @mofogachoga And notice i am not directing my lecture to any specific being.. Yet a reminder for anyone to do so. Simplified for dumb fucks; don't bitch at me, i don't care.

  • This is my grandma's favorite song.

  • @jadewindsong That's... pretty awesome

  • @jadewindsong your grandma is a badass

  • @jadewindsong Then, You Grandma is BADASS! xD

  • @jadewindsong i love your grandma!

  • This song isn't about a penis. It's about a province called Jambi on the east coast of central Sumatra.

  • @youboon The song isn't about a penis, it's about MY penis.

  • @derralgerken If you grew one, perhaps you could say such things. But regardless of your comment, this song still isn't about a penis.

  • @youboon your face is a penis. It's a joke tard. I know the song isn't about a penis; the very idea that someone can say absolutely what this song is about makes them a penis.

  • @derralgerken I guess you are a penis, since Tool could write a song and tell you it's cool to think it's about a penis, and mindless drones would believe them, and post it on Youtube. No, this song is about Jambi in Sumatra. That's a fact.

  • @youboon You're from the GOD DAMN UK and you can't read English and can't understand sarcasm?

Let me type-shout this at you and see if you get the fucking point.

    IT'S A FUCKING JOKE, TARD.

I know it's not about a fucking penis, let alone my penis. The idea that you think it's about Jambi, Sumatra is fucking ridiculous given that there is no evidence to your point. The song could just as easily be about the character from pee-wee's playhouse, name-wise. It's ambiguous, most Tool song are.

  • @derralgerken The song is about Jambi in Sumatra. Or maybe you didn't listen to the lyrics. How could this song be about Pee-Wee's Playhouse? "Easily" you say? Are you sure that English is your first language?

  • @youboon

    easily- without difficulty or effort

i give up, someone else talk to this fucking moron.

  • @derralgerken How can you relate lyrics about Jambi to Pee-Wee? You must be very smart to be able to do that. Why don't you share with us this ability? Or maybe you misused the word "easily"? I hesitate to guess.

  • @youboon wow, you're fucking stupid. The phrase, "just as easily" does not mean, "it is". In this context, it means that, given the ambiguity of tool's music, there is not a particular meaning to this songs name. You must feel like a moron for originally suggesting that "easily" isn't a word, and now you must feel like a complete idiot for suggesting that I used the word incorrectly. The problem isn't me little gangsta, it's you. I feel for you, I was a 13 year old know it all too.

  • @derralgerken 'Was know' - You used the wrong tense. Gangster*. I never suggested that "easily" is not a word, you are incorrect. Wow* You should have used proper capitalisation in your response, I feel that this would have been more beneficial to your cause. Please re-read your comments to correct any mistakes in them. The phrease "just as easily" *DOES* mean that it is *AS* easy to relate the lyrics to Pee-Wee as it is to Jambi in Sumatra. These are the kind of amateurish mistakes that I mean.

  • @youboon I'm about to take your ass to school, so read closely. "I was a 13 year old know it all too" is not grammatically incorrect in anyway. "I was", meaning that in the past, like you are now, I WAS a 13 year old know it all. Past tense is used when an event takes place in the past. Thus, my being a 13 year old know it all took place in the past. . Gangsta is what we call "slang." The definition of slag is, “a type of language that consists of words and phrases that are...

  • The definition of slag is, “a type of language that consists of words and phrases that are regarded as very informal…”

  • @derralgerken I think you mean "The definition of slang is"*. Amateurish, see?

  • @youboon When you tell me to use “proper capitalisation”, I assume you mean that I should use proper capitalization. That being said, are you telling me that I should capitalize “wow” in my first sentence? Because that would be a stupid fucking thing to do, given that you don’t capitalize words in the middle of a fucking sentence. Given that the sentence is, “@youboon wow, you're fucking stupid,” the @ mark acts as the beginning of the fucking sentence.

  • @youboon Assume that the sentence was, “12 ducks raped youboon in his ear,” you would not capitalize ducks just because the number 12 is at the beginning of the sentence.

Wow, you are partly correct about one thing. The PHARSE (what the fuck is a “phrease”) “just as easily” does mean that it is as easy to relate the lyrics to the Pee-wee character as it would Jambi, Sumatra.

  • @youboon Though, your lack of intelligence doesn’t allow you to finish your logic. The result being that because there is no hard evidence that the song is about either, it is just as easy to say that it could be one or the other.

It’s so embarrassing that you are trying to call me out on “amateurish mistakes” when you are completely fucking wrong.

  • @derralgerken Your improper use of grammar is quite disheartening, especially since you're trying to argue with me. I don't believe you took the time to write out so many poorly-worded arguments that not only give credence to my claims, but make you look like some kind of 17 year old argumentative child. Just... wow.

Anyone with a strong grasp of the English language or a basic grasp of logic is laughing at your comments. By the way, I only read half of your comment, then skipped over the rest.

  • @youboon Thats great kid. I know your attention span can't make it through 2 minutes of reading. I've spent enough time dealing with you. It's clear to me now that you are not arguing for the sake of making a point backed by evidence. You're just making baseless claims and repeating them until you get a hard-on.

The only thing I should acknowledge as being wrong is when I said that you shouldn't capitalize the word after @youboon.

  • @derralgerken Your grammar is so terrible it makes me skip-read through your comments.

  • You're all wrong. This song is about a character from pee-wee's playhouse. obvious.

  • Actually, this song is about Maynard's appreciation for my penis. You see, my erection is what created the heavens above, the earth, and hell below. When I ejaculated it sent off a chain reaction, causing everything to "cum" into being at the precise moment of my climax. And, now as my cum become stale, the living beings of the world are starting to diverge from the path of life into the path of the void. Maynard is singing this song in hopes that I can ejaculate once again and bring peace.

  • @derralgerken Words cannot describe the genius of what you just said.

  • @bigAshizzle you're welcome

  • @derralgerken lmao amazing

  • lol maynards always gettin down to this song

  • My favorite Tool jam...thanks for posting. Great quality as well!

  • ufffff.... i like it!!! is amazing paul u has to listen that!!!

  • a live gig doesn't get any better than this !

  • jambi is also about that creepy genie on pee wees playhouse

  • I was right infront of Justin!!!!

  • This song is obviously about Masterchief in Halo.

  • In my book, Tool is the only band that really compares to Yes. 70's Yes, not 80's Yes. Trevor Rabin sucks ass.

  • i wont let u DIM my eyes u bastards Sun will shine on me forever ! ! Tool forever!

  • this song is so deep. there could have been several reasons why maynard wrote the lyrics, but no matter what the reason, it's truly a powerful song. Shine on forever Shine on benevolent sun Shine down upon the broken Shine on until the two become one

    Simply amazing

  • lol maynards dancing during the solo...

  • There seems to be one or two people who have commented on the meaning of this song. I just want to say that this song is most definately about Maynard's feelings for his son. If anything ever came between him and his son, like his musical career, he would wish his career away without hesitation. It is not about a girl that he wants.

The only other interpretation is, instead of Devo, it's about his mother. But his son makes much more sense. I didn't write this song, but I'm damn sure Im right

  • @ndvak13 Actually, he had his son taken away because of his drug use and the fact that he spent very little time with him due to his musical work. This song was written about how upset he was, and that if he had known what would happened, he would've stopped.

  • @DJRayPist Where'd you hear/read that?

  • @ndvak13 ..."H." is named for his son's middle initial. i think that song's about his son too

  • @matt46and2

    It's about his mother.

  • @aikrules what song? "H."? or "Jambi"?

  • @matt46and2

Jambi is about his mother.. H stands for Heroin?

  • I remember being 10 and talkin' to my older brother (lucky number 7 yrs b4 me btw)..we were listening to tool talkin about life and i randomly just said to him "Tom, is it wierd for me to feel like i know more than typical people because I listen to Tool." He just laughed but within the next 6 yrs i'd realize how much that moment really means to me.

  • this and right in two are two of my favorite songs by these guys, this one cuz the timing and rhythm and sound of the song is just glorious and right in two is just amazingly lyrically put together ya know? all of thier stuff is greaat but i love these ones a lot.

  • You people who are retarted, all tool songs are not "just badass" the are songs with very deep meanings.

  • @score2000claxon1 Indeed. Badass and Meaningful.. Just another reason why Maynard's Lyrics touch you like no other. eh? no homo of course. ;] well For maynard. eh.. mebbeh

  • @score2000claxon1

agreed, and also heavily layered lyrically. Maynard is a genius.

  • @score2000claxon1 lol saying people are retarded and you spelled retarded wrong.

  • @TentativeandIntrepid haha yeah i noticed that too. what a retart...

  • @TentativeandIntrepid There is no right or wrong way to spell anything, unless you adhere to the laws of grammar to the extent of being literature's bitch.

  • @BrandonTsia Best... comment... ever!

  • @BrandonTsia Hahaha

  • @TentativeandIntrepid > run out of comebacks

    > correct someones grammar/spelling mistakes.

  • @score2000claxon1 thats what makes them badass

  • @score2000claxon1 but also very badass. lol

  • @score2000claxon1 their deep meaning make them just badass retard

  • @thramagen

I never said the thats not true

  • @score2000claxon1 omg i said the same thing to you twice you must think Im very desperate to get my message heard. I am its very impotant that you understand

  • @thramagen

You are very desperate to get your message heard, otherwise you wouldnt reply

  • @score2000claxon1 Im not sure it requires desperation to reply to someones message, after all, you replied to me too right?

  • @thramagen

Dude just listen to the music

  • @score2000claxon1 bullshit...

  • Eh. Bunch of fucking nerds. Just shut up and listen to the badass song.

  • Maybe they just wanted to compose a totaly badass song and thats what they did? Sounds easy enough to explain.

  • This is Great Music everything else is just details.. and there's no point about it.

  • loving Maynard's dancemoves during the solo

  • Yeah, crazy but the way those time signatures are used on the riffs are chaotic with the polyrythms and what not. There's probably better songs with more complex time sigs but yea.

  • rosetta stoned, schism, wings for marrie.. songs like those are so easy to get lost in timing. haha but ive played the songs over a hundred times so you kinda pick it up after a while. the bass, guitar, and drums are usaully all on different time sigs that all end on a reletive beat. if you get what im sayin? lol tool is god

  • This song to me nearly redefines time signatures.

  • @Nick56708 This song answers the hardest question of all. Whats the calculation of 25? well this song answers that

  • @Nick56708 which tool song doesn't? hahaha they have 6.5/8 time signatures at one point and then just snap and break off

  • @mojonation1487 There's no such thing as a 6.5/8 time signature, they said that just to fuck with people. Schism is 5/4 and 7/4, at least for the part you're thinking of.

  • @machinerage299 lol yes there is. 13/16 time signature. which is what i'm thinking of. You just don't see that much and they referred to it as 6.5/8 jokingly. hence my comment which was also in a humorous sense

  • @mojonation1487 couldn't that mean a bar of 6/8 and then a bar of 3/8?

  • @machinerage299 its in alternating 5/8 and 7/8, then switches between complex -/8 time signatures. I analyzed the song as a part of my class. I also play the song all the time as part of a band. although yes, it could just bee a fast 5/4 7/4, for tempos sake and for the correct feeling it has to be 5/8 and 7/8

  • @machinerage299 that would just make it 13/16 but you'd have to feel the 16th notes

  • obviously people who are commenting on this don't know anything about tool, he writes most of his lyrics in metaphors.

  • To all who argue about the meaning of this song, like most Tool songs they can have multiple meanings, but theres one that makes the most sense in context to the rest of the album it's from.

The song is about his mother who's death inspired a lot of the lyrics from the album 10,000 days - this this song is about who he would do anything to get her back - the religion references are on account for her devotion to religion and how she didn't exactly like a lot of his work because of their context

  • hahahaha adam fucks up at 5min...proves they ARE human after all

  • shine on benevolent son!!

  • i'm sorry. This is clearly not about some girl. Being a father myself, as is maynard, this song seems to speak to those little choices in life which may pull time away from being with your kid. Such as being on the road 200 days a year might do. Jambi was the name of the genii (is that spelled right?) from pee wees play house. It seems to me that's who he's wishing to, that when he'd gotten all he'd ever wished for, it was meaningless if too much was sacrificed in the process.

  • That's why at the end the two become one right? The singer and the child will become one. That makes sense. (Sarcasm)

I remember seeing it on Wikipedia WITHOUT the refrence to this stupid shit you are bringing up but now that you or someone else has made the link it was changed. There are NO records of them talking about a Pee Wee. Here is the truth "Jambi" is an Indonesian Province in Sumatra, which was once part of a powerful kingdom with a rich sultan who lived an opulent lifestyle."

  • I remember being a young ignorant fuck like you. Looking back, it really sucked.

  • Clearly you believe that you're the only human versed in the art of sarcasm. PeeWee. Common. I heard that the day the album came out. Thought every Tool fan heard that joke. You're way too serious about YouTube, there, dick.

  • no mames¡¡

    this is a really trip¡¡

    holly shit¡¡¡

    cool

    lol

    inovador¡

  • Wow! I changed Wikipedia's definition with my one little comment? What power! I feel like a sultan or something. Yer a douche. Bend over and um... Fuck Yourself.

  • How the fuck can you people be so god damn stupid about what this song means?

Wether presented in metaphor or literal the person in the song has everything he ever could want but a certain girl. (Who he is talking to in the song) and he would give everything he has just to be with her. "You're my piece of mind, my whole, my center" she is the one that completes him, without her "I might as well be gone". He wont let anything come between them. In the end when they die they will become one.

  • Slag, Your calling us stupid but your hear trying to tell us what a song is about that you didnt even fucking write.

  • Yea, that's true. But it dosn't mean that's not what the song is about.

It's pretty literal. There are no double meanings which make other Tool songs like Schism, Stinkfist, etc. Take for instance Vicarious, it was ment to be taken literal just like Jambi which was in the same album 10,000 days.

Give me all the thumbs down you want but that dosn't make me wrong.

  • Comment removed

  • wow, i can't believe this was so long ago haha.

I wasn't at the fresno show, but I was at the bakersfield show the next day. God they put on such an amazing show.

  • Maynard you are one fucked up, insane, extremely artistic badass mother fucker!!
