  • VTEC IS BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TheUfomonkys it actually isn't

  • would i have to switch up my trans? write me a more forfilling post ,.. thanks, i like reading, it makes me think/ i apreciate it.

    joey 4m SA,ca

  • @muffintoplover2000 , but is my 1zz-fe engine worth fixing up? (2002 celica gt)

  • My '02 Gt Has The 1zz-fe Engine, how can I Improve My Performance/HP?

  • @EncinitasLokal put a 2zz in it

  • Anyone know Whats A Good Lowering Spring For This Car?

  • Love hearing that second cam kick in at the end

  • For those speaking of TQ, keep in mind that this is a N/A 1.8 4 cylinder. Even with the high compression, it's very limited in how much air it can compress with each stroke due to the small diameters of the pistons/cylinders. This is why it relies on high revolutions & the variable valve timing to make good power up top.

  • Thats because you are gay and you own the GT not the GT-S

  • slowwwwwww and i own a celica :/ i wish they moved like they look

  • ok ive been searching everywhere and i cannot find a place that will dyno my celica!! HELP im currently living in kansas, any places near there that will dyno my baby?

  • Toyota was FOOLISH for stopping the production of the celica!

  • @JustinThoj you are absolutely right man

  • what does lift mean?

  • @32Ashton just think of it as toyota's version of VTEC

  • I'm making it a life goal to own one of these

  • lift= eargasm.

  • I smiled when I heard lift kick in

  • power band is horrible..lol

  • wow that makes my bentley gtc look slow

  • VVTL-i is a fucking beast

  • @elqueteloponeclaro but only 161 hp and a dreery 119 torque? I wouldn't call that beastly.

  • @darthnefas It's not all that beastly, but considering it's a 1.8L N/A four-banger and it's all stock, those numbers aren't bad. Honda claims 170hp on the GSR and 190-200hp on the ITR, yet both of those cars probably dyno lower than 160whp. Torque is something Honda still has yet to discover, so I won't even try to take a stab at that. :P

  • @kevinsupra90 They share that torque problem. The 11.25 compression of the 1.8 is not well known for generating impressive torque numbers in any of its iterations, even in supercharged form. I'm a Celica GT-S fan, having owned one (see my videos), but I understand this car's weaknesses greatly and I wouldn't compare it to anything else.

  • these cars arnet the fastest thing around but they are quick for a lil 1.8 4cyl and they are reliable. i had one in high school and beat the shit out of it, it held up pretty good.

  • hahahhahahahahahah

  • @DSMDriver69

haha thats me right now ;) good thing i get my dads car next (07 shelby GT500)

  • the celica will last longer, but in my opiniopn the tiburon looks better....its all personal choice

  • @Nyfighter16 nicely said mate

  • I'd go with the toyota cause it has or had the reputation of lasting along time cause ive got a corolla with over 190,000miles and still gets 35mpg and my celica gts has over 180,000 miles and runs great

  • tib v6

  • @david08106 Tibby!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • so what were the numbers? whats the point of the video

  • The first series (pre facelift) had a few issues.

The ones with the 1ZZ-FE engine (140bhp) Celica GT) can have oil consumption issues, and they can use up a lot of oil.

The 2ZZ-GE versions (Celica GTS) had some issues with the liftbolts. all problems where later on fixed in the facelifted models

  • so the ones before body kits have liftbolt problems? Is it still fixable on the prior models?

  • Yeah the problems are fixeble. so worth checking if they where fixed cause they are not cheap to fix.

  • do you know of any other issues with earlier gt-s?

  • really what kinda celica do u have? how old is it what gen' is it? n how many bhp does it has?

  • i have a question for celicas owners, Does celicas got like a weak spot? specially from the mechanic point of view...

  • im an automotive tech and well i dont work at toyota but ive heard that the rear end (suspension) is weak in them, im sure someone will correct me if im wrong though.

  • I've never heard of that one... If anything, the GT-S's 6 speed tranny is pretty weak. I have an auto GT BTW.

  • The "C60" 6 speed tranny in the 7th gen (2000-2005) Celica GT-S is kinda weak.

  • Like all toyotas, celicas are indestructable!

  • hahaha thats too funny

  • im guessing 142hp to the driver side wheel?

  • celicas lift better than hondas as toyota celica have this wierd box on the engine witch makes a 50 hp difference over 6,000 rpm

with hondas all the power is at the end of rev range, i drove both and the honda civic type r didnt make much difference except it would go on for age with out changing gear

the toyota wizzs throw the gears but you do have to rag it a bit more tho

  • The results???

  • this kids fucking horrible, he didnt hit vvtl-i 1-5...

  • your not supposed to, it's only supposed to be the last gear

  • err what i mean is, your only supposed to actually accelerate is the last gear.. he was shifting at like 4,000 rpms in 1-5

  • yea but i think they only test it on one gear with these dyno runs

  • I can hear the VVTL-I

  • No numbers ? no readouts ? no nothing ,just a video of an idiot on a goddamn dyno, WOW dude , thats like sticking in the tip and walking away.

    You FAIL at dyno videos.

  • @Sraedw read the description!!!!

  • @Sraedw i found the data fine?

  • so what were the numbers?? that lift sounds sickk! nice GTS!!!

  • just me but i am a diehard toyota fan

  • A shitload of Hondaheads don't even know what VTEC stands for!

  • or VTAK or VTEK or VTECH or even "VTEC JUST KICKED IN, YO!"

  • vtec are for hondas

its called vvt-i or vvti-l on toyotas personally i like toyotas system better

  • its vvtl-i

  • vvtl-i* Nissans vvl is better imho

  • oh so true or how v-tech works toyotas

  • The Lift On Toyotas Master the v-tech

    V-Tech Bi7ches betta be jealous.

  • its more advanced than i-vtec

  • no, its not. im a fan of toyota, but my brother has an accord euro (or a better known tsx) i-vtec is more advanced, toyota never made something to compete with it. vvtli is competing with vtec

  • the whole reason celicas aren't made anymore is because the RSX-S. the celica gt-s and rsx are both 6 speed and the rsx-s pushes like 10-20 more hp stock. the accord didn't have anything to do with it

  • then whats the reason they dont make rsx-s anymore? the celica is 200lbs lighter than the rsx which makes up for the 10WHP diference stock. its a drivers race stock for stock.

  • I guess you're right. Most car companies are slowly lessening they're sports line. In most cases it's just not economic enough anymore i suppose. Toyota is moving toward a more luxury line.

  • a stock Celica is like 128tq at the crank

  • guys i just wanna know is there any competition between celica gts tiptronic stock vs civic vtec doch stock or celica gts stock vs peugeot 206 RC plz can anyone tell me

  • LOL GTS auto. Yeah right. Those get like 17 seconds in the 1/4 mile. An auto civic lx sohc is more likely to be at your level. Sorry =/.

  • ehm, there is no such thing as a 6-speed Celica gts automatic

  • When did I ever say there was a 6 speed celica gts auto?

  • lol

  • actually, I saw a gts with the TRD package at a neighbor's house of one of my friends and it was indeed an auto. it was an 02.

  • An auto GTS is only 4-speed.

  • FWHP probably something around 159 or so. The GTS is rated 180HP at the crank. Factor in a 15% drivetrain loss and it equates to about 160 or so. The GTS features a peaky 1.8L VVTL-i motor, busy in traffic. Still torqueless though :D

  • rated at 180 bhp 173 whp

  • the gt-s is in america right? it has 180 hp? here in europe we have the t-sport version 193 hp

  • its lift.. same thing as vtec except toyotas version.. same as the sportivo.. lol so is he gonna put the results or not.. i got 106.4kw on my sportivo.. only got an cai..

  • numbers???

  • hein??? sounds like a vthec???

  • VTEC kicked yo.........Just kidding....what is called.. VVTi ...

  • wrong..its vvtl-i

  • 180hp and 140tq

  • what the fuck you put this on here and not show the results???

  • 3sgte?

  • NOPE!! 3sgte come only in the older models..i believe in the 4th gen celicas.

  • yea i kno, 4th to 6th gen im pretty sure. but 3sgte wiring dont go w/ the newer ones huh?? i mean is not compatible or sumtin

  • i dont think so.

lol..but im pretty sure that it doesnt.

  • yea i kno, 4th to 6th gen im pretty sure. but 3sgte wiring dont go w/ the newer ones huh?? i mean is not compatible or sumtin

  • Thats funny spanky. Im sure you have owned tons aof american cars to make that ssumption that they suck.. swallow bitch

  • lol w/e my stock mustang gt destroys ur lil import prollie paid less for it too:P

  • and my stock camaro ss shits on ur mustang gt so lick my butt and suck on my balls

  • & My V6 Maxima stomps both of you! EVERYONE, STOP BICKERING!

  • and my 4 banger stock sentra would pwn all your silly american crap. HAHA JK GO AMERICA!!!!

  • Maxima is Japanese foo, and alot faster than Sentra ha ha.... Sentras are fun though, easy to power slide ha ha

  • no i know. i meant the camaro and the stang. i was just kidding though. haha my sentra has 110 ponys haha. Do you like ricers or what though? i hate them.

  • I hate RICERS, Wanna be fast cars that arent but i do repsect TUNERS, in my Maxima, i would eat bmws, mustangs, muscle, mercs, lexus, GTIS lol ALL DAY, but once i lost to a black Integra, VERY NICE LOOKING AND HOT CAR!!! I now have an MR2 :-) but i miss maxima

  • u dont have a MR2. sorry to ruin ur little youtube fantasy there bro

  • MAXIMA LOL. if i were you i would just burn my money...same difference

  • your so dumb, for less than 6 Gs this car pushes over 300 whp LOL V6 VQ power High Revving all DAY, Obviously u know nothing of it, go read you dumb punk... ha ha..

  • I see. Yeah did you have a can on your maxima??? just wondering. haha

  • still id rather burn my money then buy ur piece of shit maxima :-/

  • yea but my neighbors mongoose bike kicks both of your faggot american cars asses.

honda, toyota, nissan, mongoose bike > slowstang, gaymaro

  • LOL i bet u get good gas mileage on that bike

  • lmao.

  • the motor was built by yamaha but its a really good motor

  • You gotta be kiddin me right? And don't give me your whole, "American V8's are inefficient" and "Japanese cars get more hp/liter" bullshit. Cause guess what there will never be a better engine than a V8. Know why it can take more abuse, and minor mods you do to them are much more effective than comparable mods done to a ricer. So remember next time you wanna diss a mustang GT or a Camaro SS, remember to wave as it passes you.

  • yea but dollar-wise you could build a faster honda or toyota than you could a camaro or mustang with the same amount of money with the price of the car included. its just an opinion that imports are better.. but it happens to be the right opinion, and more and more people are switching over.

  • Whatever your opinion might be, think about it, a 2005 Celica GTS with 20000 miles on it still costs about 15-17g. my friends dad got a 2003 mustang GT with 17000 miles on it for 16g. And the best part about that is the fact that they put the 305hp Mach 1 engine in it. so it just all depends on what and where you get your car and what you plan on doing to it.

  • I agree. I owned a mustang 5.0 gt and it was A LOT to fix it up. I love american muscle dont get me wrong, but I think I would be better off with an import for now until I can afford my Camaro SS :)

  • a mustang has like a 4.6L motor and makes 300hp now lets see what from the jap side a g35 with a 3.5L motor that turns 306hp and get better gas milage and people wont asume that you screw your sister like they would if u were in a mustang

  • Ah goin straight for the defensive, guess I must have hit a nerve or something. Here's the deal the G35 runs a 14.2 1/4 and the Mach1 runs a 13.2. Same power output, but the G35 gets smoked by the Mach 1. And remind me again how much the G35 costs, used still 25K easily. Wow now that's sad. That and reliability. He now has well over 70k on his Mach1 and he's never replaced a damn thing on that car. Now you're gonna tell me that the 4.6 is not reliable. Come on dude you're wrong just admit it.

  • and then as u are driving there is a turn and u under steer into a tree and burst into flames, on a second note how many times has a ford 4.6L engine made wards 10 best engines 6 times at the most as a pose to the VQ 3.5L which has been on every year since the list started in 95. mustangs are shit cars filled with plastic and they are weak a 4.6L that only turns 300 horses come on. a 350z will turn 300 horses a g37 will make 330 horses the mustang is dated and the brakes are shity

  • Sure they are. How many times has Nissan won Lemans? Ford won it 4 straight years in a row with the exact same car every time. And they banned the Ford GT40 because noone could make a car to compete with it. And no other car manufacturer has been able to win 4 years in a row since. Sorry but Lemans is the true test of the endurance of a car. Nissan had a car in the 90s that blew up and the other 2 cars had to work double time to make up for the other car that blew up. Funny stuff man.

  • in the end its really about the drivers taste each car has their pros and cons

  • This is true. And that's really all there is to this argument is we're both arguing our preferences.

  • Hey guy,

stop arguing a lost cause... becuase with 5k I can build turbo import from nothing that will blow both the car's you specifically speak of, doors off. Nobody is downing V8 cars. Most of us love them, they are the origination of what we now have today... your just being too much of an extremist/hater to see any of the facts. Yes, smaller displacement motors get better gas milage, and with todays technology and variable timing/lift they do make more hp per liter. Stop being ignorant.

  • Ok here's the deal, you say they're cheaper to make faster right? Guess what even if it is cheaper to buy a civic and give it 500hp and be able to beat a viper, guess what that's no longer a daily driver and reliability goes down the drain. Don't get me wrong I love imports, I drive an 03 eclipse for god sakes. But here's the deal you put 5g's into a civic and it's fast you put 5g into a mustang mach1 it's faster. Comparable mods are always more effective on V8's.

  • so true dude. tokes..if you need proof, just watch that Pinks ep with the 95 VTEC turbo'd Civic. he blew the clutch in two runs xD

  • Yea I know. People who drive civics always argue it's cheaper to make a civic faster. But not necessarily, I mean look at the long term. You turbo a 2.0L Vtec engine with 400hp lets say, or you get an 03 Mach1 Mustang that already has 305hp and up it to 400hp. Over the long term the mustang will last longer cause the engine is meant to handle more power to begin with. The Civic will constantly be having problems with all that power. But all in all it's just a matter of opinion. Nothing more.

  • lol i like when ppl go on the dyno and like slam up to 4th gear its hilarious.

  • hahahaha it sounds like a honda wat do u hava a b18 with vtec

  • or the stock motor with lift. you know, i mean ur dumb as hell... nigger

  • chyea boi!

  • Oh most definitely...a Celica GTS against a Honda Prelude? Celica is much faster, even though it has a smaller engine. Preludes are nothing but two-door Accords.

  • Celica's are so fucking lame. I should know, I own one and it sucks.

  • u must have gotten a messed up celica cause mine is fast as hell and its still stock.

  • u probly havent driven a real fast car then u moron.

  • what an idiot. 180 horse power aint bad. i bet u drive a civic and think your all fast and the furius now. and i wasnt trying to be an asshole to nretelas i was just saying that maybe there sometin wrong with his car.

  • nah try an ls1 6 speed camaro. 320 horsepower stock. and i bet ur all fast and furious with ur 180 horsepower. LOL what a joke...my lawnlower puts out that power and probly sounds the same as ur car too

  • sure!

  • ill email u some pics whats ur email u faggot

  • Actually if you race a prelude and a GT-S with equal good drivers, the celica will win. Not by much but it will... I know i've done it plenty times when I had one.

  • i beat a celica gt-s turbo with my fucn 75 pontiac grandville 4 door wat a embarrising car weak ass front wheel drive

  • probably talking about 94 celica gts ahaha...new celica gts are pretty fast for a 1.8 engine because i own one and of course it aint like a sti or an evo but with turbo it can go pretty fast and the one you thought you raced probably wasnt even racing you..haha..or it was a GT model w/gts sticker on it....

  • nice video, nice numbers too. what year and miles on this car?

  • everyone comparing the celica and the prelude... Yes they both have their own vtec engines, however the prelude is a 2.2L 4 cyl with 147kW, and the celica is a 1.8L 4cyl with 140kW... The celica's power to size ratio of the engine is just plain incredible. The prelude might be faster, but u gotta respect toyota for the celica.

  • usually when you compare car you go with the engine size. you cant compare a 1.8l to a 2.2l.

  • what i meant by that is that the celica engine is smaller, yet pushes out almost equal power output...

  • metal needs to speek proppper ennnglish before he comments on videos...idiot

  • i-vtec > vvtl-i

car still sounds nice though. i like celica's as well, but hondas own all.

  • My lugnuts got more torque that any vtec, vvtl-i>i-vtec>your mom

  • correction ... vvtl-i > your mom > i-vtec

  • sorry guy's but the vtec kicks stronger then the vvtli

I don't have a honda or toyota, but had the chance to

    drive both.thats what i felt.

  • pretty nice i think toyota claims 180 at the crank so 161 is pretty damn good at the wheels.

  • I got an aem Intake and TRD Exhaust ... I am going to do another dyno in a week or two :)

  • at 6000 RPM, its not only VVT-i .. but its VVTL-i .. The L standing for LIFT ... which is like i-VTEC. Large openings for both Intake and Exhaust

  • hey can you explain me what happens when you get to 6000 rpm? whats the WT-i???

  • sweet, u can hear the vvt-i kick in just before 00:28

  • What year? pretty descent #'S

  • 161.74 HP, 119.33 Torque

  • can you tell me whats the wt-i??

  • vvti is variable valve timing... the timing of the intake valves changes in order to compensate for the velocity of the air going in... Lift is when the intake and exhaust cams changes profiles... the valves lift increases at 6000 rpms... i think im right... lol...

  • 5000rpm

  • its 6200 in my sisters gt-s trd

  • -_- no

  • and how many hps?
