i dont think this war can be won. The DrugLords are at the head of the taliban, they have a lot of money and there are a LOT LOT LOT of poor people starving in their craphole in the country so they are easy to buy meaning a neverending suppply of fresh new taliban's. Also, the poor are angry for losing a relative and that makes them even easier to convince. I never been there so i dont know if what i say is right but it makes sense to me from what i see on the web.

If you notice, he's wearing British insignia, US and Dutch general insignia's so the ISAF troops know what rank he his. I had the same with my uniform (corporal) in bastion.

They use it for international cooperative efforts. The officer is not commanding on behalf of the UK but on behalf of NATO and the ISAF, hence the insignia.
