I love his strength in the "sadness" note of the chorus, especially contrasted to Blue Wind. His voice otherwise leaves a bit to be desired, but I'd love to see him live.
to me, this doesn't sound as desperate and disturbing as the recording in it. In the OBC, John Gallagher Jr. really conveys the desperation and pain.....I think this guy is alright, but honestly, nothing compared to JGJ
Aww, I think Eric Millegan is kinda good in an odd way at being Moritz. I mean, he's VERY different to John Gallagher Jr, but you know you loved him Bones!
I kinda like in the beginning where he just repeats, "Enough," over and over again, quietly, like he's just crushed under the weight of everything, but he's not screaming it like Moritz does in the show now... a different take I guess.
This vocalist may not be up to par, but he definitely does embody Moritz. He's an average singer, but, seriously, can you deny the passion be brought to the character?
wow. i did not expect ilse's singing voice to sound the way it does based on the way she speaks. haha her voice is amazing! but i'm not sure if i like it for ilse's character. though that might be because i'm so used to lauren pritchard's voice.
No, no, no. Whatever this is, it is horrible. These are not the accurate voices! Maybe it's just the audio, or something. It sounds like a low-budget sitcom.
@ALovelyLullaby You realise, of course, that this is a workshop? Only a few actors actually ended up going from these workshops to the actual Broadway production (Lea Michele was one). That's why it sounds different.
@HighKingTurgon Workshop or not, the vocalists are not up to par. I'm just glad that Mr. Millegan and Ms. Berger were not given the Broadway roles. Besides, there's a difference between sounding different and sounding awful.
this is exactly why they have workshops you guys to find the real characters they are lookin for! Hence why it changed so much before it went to broadway!
I love eric, and I agree he just doesnt have the "rock" voice to really pull Mortiz off. He has to much of a voice that belongs more in like R&H or Sondheim.
i love eric millegan, especially on bones, but he doesn't have the right voice for Moritz. Maybe Georg. His voice is very musical theatre. The Ilse is fabulous though :D
So prefer John Gallagher's version. Probably because John has a more raw rock voice and this guys has a musical theatre voice. Which is what makes John so unique when it comes to Broadway.
Although I'm not keen about her voice or interpretation of the song (she was all over the place, no offense)....I LOVE how she acted/interpreted Ilse. She stayed very true to Wedekind's vision of Ilse and she seems like a really good actress.

ALovelyLullaby 1 year ago
@ALovelyLullaby Not sure who is playing Ilse is but Eric Millegan (Zack from Bones) plays Moritz
kmontana123 1 year ago
@kmontana123 Well, Mr. Millegan should stick to acting. He's much better on tv.

Or both. :)

@cutfootloose211 I actually like IIse Mortiz sounds corny! hahahhahaha And IIse is suppose to be a drunk.... right?

I feel like I really shouldn't be laughing at this scene. Lordy, when I actually saw Spring Awakening, I wasn't laughing. But this is really comical.
...
That's probably WHY it's a workshop. It's still beautiful in its own right.

LOL Moritz. is just.... yeah... not good

I really like the Ilse. Not so much for the Moritz. Nice voice, but not right for Moritz, imho.

i like ilse's screaming "moritz!" at the beginning. it made her seem more desperate. i wish they'd kept that.
bwaybaby333 2 years ago 2
I am glad this was changed. I didn't feel any attachment at all to Ilse or Moritz. And the build up to the song just wasn't there.
