UK prices are now around £125- £135 retail which includes the same cooler in the vid. Already has thermal compound applied and will OC to 3.5-3.6gig on that stock cooler. cant beat it. yes intel have more powerful cpu's but we all can't afford them lol so bang for buck AMD is still right up there.

those stock coolers are really good, a lot better than people think. i got the same cooler with my retail amd dual core 6000+ 3.1gig and it runs under load at 58-59c (high power settings under win 7)which is way below the cpu's limit of 72c.

on balanced power settings it idles at 32c and 49c under full load. just bought a phenom 940 black edition just watch the temps as they max out at 62c any more and you will fry it

@soccaman847 Always but it's crappy grey paste..

Just buy copper paste at your local pc store ... it doesnt cost that much and if you save it solid closed you can use it a couple of times more for Cleaning pc, what most people forget is to dust clean (at least) once a month and sometimes change paste especially the grey paste those dry out after a couple of weeks running.

for the price they put and the modtherborde so hight, make intel not worth buying. the amd is little weaker but its price is low and the moderbord prise cant be better. for the power you get for Amd with sush low prise is worth it

Not a all mate. Wiring on those is straight through. Pin 1 on one side aint 40 on the next like the old PATA master/slave/mobo cables were!

i would check you motherboard website for a compatible cpu list. sometmes a motherboard can not handle the cpu if for example the cpu is 140w at peak and the board only supports say 125w then it prob wont boot or will constantly crash.

well my mobo says it supporta 140w cpu but not on the website i checked for bios update and it supports AM3

If you don't have a budget, get the I7, that's what I would do.

I like AMD for the price, I like Intel for the insane performance. One cannot survive without the other.

You can get a new Phenom II for as little as 120USD (and no more than 240USD), plus the AM3 790FX motherboards which ASUS and Gigabyte just released retail for cheaper (180-200USD) than most X48/X58 boards, and the 790X/790GX boards are 140USD.

it's decent. I got mine up to 3.4 and ran the crysis benchmark 1680x1050 all very high 30+fps average 8xAA and it was 48 degrees C with the stock cooler. i keep it at 3.2 constant. i could go higher than 3.4 but there's no need

Intels quads aren't TRUE quads unlike AMD's Phenom's. Intel just slapped to Duo's together and said it was a quad.
