  • damn daytona...

  • i did not know he died until i watched the movie 3. (based on dale srs life)

  • Same area and same fatal injury as Earnhardts. RIP Neil Bonnet

  • Why is it that every video of this is stuttering.

  • @brendomatic1 because this clip is the only footage of the wreck, and back when it happened slow mo replays always did this

  • What happened did he hit the wall head on is that what killed him?

  • That is very sad. For a racer to lose his life in a fatal racing crash. May Neil Bonnet rest in peace.

  • Neil was the last of the alabama gang, I would like to be the next of the alabam gang, but I doubt I could get a good ride in nascar.

  • WTF is this shit vid?..

    bad quality

    bad edition..

    W T F ?

  • @eMMedeArg it's the only existing clip of this wreck...

  • Think of this one guys.... Dale Won the 1998 daytona 500. 3 years later, he passed away in the 500 and Waltrip won it in 2001. Jr won the 2004 daytona 500. in 2007, Harvick driving dale's old car won the 500. Jamie McMurray won the 2010 daytona 500 driving for EARNHARDT-Ganassi Racing. Every 3 years, someone that was somehow related to Dale Earnhardt has won the 500. Waltrip drove for dale's team, and harvick drove Dale Sr's old car

  • @kahnekid9 I have noticed that to, maby austin dillion will get some wins, move up into the cup sieries, and win the 2013 daytona 500 drivin for richard childress.

  • @flubber342 what state is Austin Dillion from, he's been my favorite truck series driver since he started.

  • @flubber342 North Carolina

  • @kahnekid9 u got a point

  • Poor Neil man "bad luck" just doesnt decribe it. He suffers a near fatal crash in Darlington 1990, retires, comes back in 1993 and gets dumped into another near fatal crash at Talladega where his car got airborn into the catch fence. The start of the 94 season has a tire go down in practice at Daytona and looses his life. So Sad. RIP

  • I seen the innerds and testees a' flying all over the air! and a cat ran out and was a eatin' on the guts and the nuts!

  • I remember the scene in the ESPN Biopic (IMHO the real biopic; Fuck CMTV's version) when this happened. Teresa and Junior witnessed the accident and told Dale about it. Ironically, he was driving one of Dale's cars. Also ironically, it happened around the same time as Ayrton Senna's Fatal Crash at Imola.

  • i know the daughter of neil bonnet, she is taking it well but it is hard for her to talk about it. RIP

  • Yep, its like a drug. And an addiction is hard to walk away from. If he had quit racing he would still be heard giving commentary like Waltrip.

  • I agree he shouldnt have been in the car, but you really cant tell a racer "not to get in the car"..Its sad to lose both, him and Dale Sr. And Bob Allison, lost him waaaaay to soon.

  • @tuengem I won't tell you who told me this, but when he retired from racing, I asked him why. His answer: "Like drugs, you have to know when to quit."

  • @tuengem Bob Allison was a MLB player. Bobby Allison, the NASCAR driver, isn't dead.

  • neil bonnet is a ledgend with a career cut short

  • @0603000334 Neil was a legend, but not with a career cut short. He'd already had a head injury he should have retired after that. I liked Neil, he was a very good driver, but he should not have been in that race car.

  • @rockinredneck57 i agree with that but do you know what caused him to crash at daytona in '94

  • that video sucked

  • If I recall correctly, Neil Bonnet died of injuries to his spinal cord/base of the skull caused by the rapid deceleration of hitting the wall and the helmet/skull weight putting more force on the skull base than it could stand. The HANS device has pretty much eliminated this risk now. I know of a hobby driver in Barrie, Ontario that suffered the same fate during practice but at about 60-70 mph.

  • @drturnip and not long befor his coma

  • How did it kill him?

  • This was 16 years ago as of today.

  • The Nascar community went through some trying times in those few years

  • If Neil were still alive today, he'd either be racing or up in the broadcast booth. If he and Dale Sr. were still alive today, those to friends would be the greatest things to see on race day. Both will be missed. RIP Neil and Dale. We all miss you.

  • maybe if they were still alive Nascar would not being going straight down the crapper.

  • Oh heck yeah!

  • I dont know about you but I saw some damn good races in 2009

  • He died the same place dale did

  • I think he was the best racing announcer on TV. Had his own show he was so good. We all had respect .

  • This was a year after his talledega crash RIP

  • i was one of the firefighters that cuy neil out of the car... it was pretty bad.. he had blood coming out of his ears eyes nose mouth.. i guess they said he tore somthing from his heart ..

  • if there was blood coming from his ears he either got his ears cut or his eardrums bursted

    painful

do u know how long it was before he was announced dead

  • @hooterb311 wow... :(

  • He died doing what he loved. RIP Neil Bonnet

  • @MIBFreakPack YES!

  • hey sorry for the rating i went to play the vid and it rated a 1 so sorry

  • What make it more sad is that Bonnet, a few years earlier, had retired from racing after a bad crash. He tried announcing but just coulding get racing out of his blood. Another good-ole-boy lost to racing.

  • R.I.P Neil Bonnet.

    #31

  • he was a good racer

  • a great sportsman. sadly missed.

  • dude you guys are all retarted nobody planned there death in nascar. it was an accident dale got hit in the rear end and shot him into the wall . neil prolly had something break .let me as you this if you were as rich as dale sr. would you kill yourself

  • at least

  • At least Neil, and Dale died doing what they loved.

  • and died in the same turn in turn 4...

  • At the same track turn like the other guy said. Sad but we all know there both up there still racin' somewhere!

  • I know, that's just straight up evil.

  • i heard that his and dales wreck were in almost the exact same place

  • couple feet away from each other...but we all know that it was at Daytona

  • what the hell is your problem saying that damn stupidness about Dale. why would plan his death you ass clown

  • I agree that NASCAR didn't want Neil racing but I guess none of us really know how bad he wanted to do it again. Your always gonna have the bar stool experts say that he killed himself on purpose and then you have NASCAR saying it was "Driver Error" but I believe something was on the track. I just find it hard to believe that the day before Andy Farr's crash started the EXACT same way. Back end come loose then head straight for the wall head on

  • yea, and plus your going over 150mph...it all looks easy but if it was a tire or something broke, your most likely not gonna save it...it just happens so fast

  • Its also odd that Andy Farr crashed in almost the same exact way......the back end came out then he went straight up the track. Only difference was that Bonnett's car only got slightly off the ground when it hit and never actually flipped. The track had not even repainted the "D" in Daytona when Neil crashed.

  • NASCAR didn't want Neil racing. Everyone tried to talk him out of doing it. He was only going to run a limited amount of races in 1994. Daytona, Indy, Charlotte and Talladega. Driver error? No way.

  • I can't believe NASCAR claimed that the crash was "Driver Error". From what I was told, a right rear shock absorber stud broke and that caused the back of the car to come out from under him. When he tried to correct it, it caught the apron and shot him straight into the wall.

  • Dale died 7 years and 7 days after his best friend's accident in the exact same corner. Did I forget to mention that Dale was a SEVEN time champion. Coincidence?

  • yes. Bill Weber, is that you?

  • Trust me, i've got a long list of stuff like this. And it is just so, coincidence.

  • @Shammons55

Dale was running in car #3, in 3rd position with 3 DEI cars, battling 3 wide, 3 years before his son drove into the winners circle. He also crashed with a car that has numbers of multiples of 3. (3,6,36) and last completed turn was turn 3.

Damn, coincidence to a whole new level.

R.I.P. Dale! We all miss you.

  • Just to clear this up, there were three DEI cars, but not in the top three positions. Waltrip and Junior were driving DEI cars. Dale raced for RCR. (I've always found these coincidental number things stupid. No offense.)

  • @CaleWillow

yeah i know, me too. but i tried my hardest to make things of 3 :p.

  • 3 years after he won his only daytona 500

  • keep them coming :D haha.

  • planned? You can not make a nascar driver "plan a crash" that could potentially take his life, let us not forget that these cars are traveling at close to 200 mph. No one wants to crash going that fast. More so saying michaels crash was planned is rediculous, you can't plan a crash to the point where he hits the wall and flips numerous times cause no one knows if it will flip or hit and slide agianst the wall.

  • are u high or sumthing you cant plan a death in nascar your going so fast you couldnt do anything like that

  • @RothmansRenaultF1

Spooky........and sad for him and his family....

  • @RothmansRenaultF1 Yes, coincidence buddy.

  • @RothmansRenaultF1 yes it is a coincidence

  • @RothmansRenaultF1 777 wow

  • @RothmansRenaultF1 There are so many weird things about Earnhardt's death. Especially with Harvick and Earnhardt Jr. years later.

  • @RothmansRenaultF1

And Sr died 3 years after he won. Jr won 3 years after his fathers death. Harvick won 3 years after that. McMurray, driving a DEI car won 3 years after Jr. Harvick beat Gordon in a photo finish 3 weeks after Sr's death.

    Coincidence?

  • @RothmansRenaultF1 dale won the 500 in 1998 and 3 years later he died. he won his 7th and last championship in 1994. 7 years later he died. his number was 3 he was in 3rd place and he was 3 wide. he crashed in between turns 3 and 4. put 3 and 4 together and you get 34. thats how many total wins he have at daytona.

  • @RothmansRenaultF1

    yep, a really weird coincidence

what else did u think it was lol

  • @RothmansRenaultF1 no duh i know that when i was 5

  • @RothmansRenaultF1 777, but thats not lucky

  • @Legometallica09 7 in the Bible,is spiritually completeness.

  • @RothmansRenaultF1 Yes, it is a coincidence, don't be stupid.

  • @RothmansRenaultF1 YES!!! It is!!!

  • @RothmansRenaultF1 Here's another one: Look at their numbers- 3 and 31. 3+3+1=7.

  • @RothmansRenaultF1 No. Not really.

  • Our friend Neil RIP

  • any one see the irony on the dale eranhardt crash and this one neil was best frends with dale and the both crashed on trun 4

  • i was just think that earlier, its kind of strange best friends may have died 7 years apart but they died right at the exact same spot. RIP

  • Exact same thoughts I had today. I can't believe how sadly ironic it was that both lost their lives in the same turn. So sad, I wish both were still here.

  • Dale actually died on Feb 18. But the irony is pretty vivid.

  • Hmm...Bonnet and Sr died the same way... never noticed that they were Buddies to the end. They were so simalir

  • thats pretty hard 2 do

kyle busch is a fag neil was a real race car driver i wish he was still alive so he could kick ur sorry ass

  • sorry if it's been said before, but it looks like he might have gone down on to the apron and come up the track much like earnhardt sr did in 2001. it also looks like he hit at a much more severe angle that earnhardt did.

  • Wow, I've never seen the actual footage of him crashing that day

  • THAT SUX

  • This was Sr. Hunting Buddy right

  • what waste of time right???what did i even say???

  • yeah i know that was pretty stupid but still true!!!!!!!!!

  • dont say nothing to sharky hes just wants atttention.

  • Bonnet, Kulwicki, Davey Allison, Dale Sr. So many NASCAR Drivers lost...

  • Sr would have won a 8th championship by now.

  • sad day in nascar

  • amen. he was a great driver.

    R.I.P Neil

  • Now we have two trolls lurking around, hehe.

  • Your mom's tits are fake SHARKY

  • how is it fake????? their are millions of people if you ask will say yes that neil bonett died at daytona during practise

  • who cares?? Neil bonett died during practice.. R.I.P Neil Bonnett

  • true lol

  • to the people that say its fake ur full of it and to the person that says later on in the daytona 500 saw the wall white well they do repaint spots hmmm think befoe u speak.. rip neil and rodney

  • I am now 100% sure that it IS Bonnet, watch the crash in the news report and compare it to this EXACTLY the same.

  • wow you were there i miss him R.I.P NEIL

  • that was only like 6 frames of it

  • Is that really Bonnet? I don't know that's why i'm asking.

  • NO.

  • Yeah i didn't mean to post that comment i was trying to search it. OKAY?

  • Don't worry about searching for Rodney Orr. As far as I know the only footage of that incident was of the rescue. No footage is known to exist of that actual crash.

  • Who's to say i wasn't searching for one of his mesmerizing races?!?

  • Finally, a correct response.

  • This is definatly the crash. The skid marks, the location of impact, not to mention the still pictures Ive seen of this accident verify this video as authentic.

  • RIP BONNET

  • I remeber seeing this on a local station in Orlando when it happened. This is definitely the footage. The car doesn't flip, that's just the hood flapping.

  • Neil was warned not to race anymore by the doctors. RIP Neil.

  • youtube com/watch?v=RRbDPLarueg

This is a news report that shows the clip here plus a shot of the car after it wrecked.

  • There are two clips on here of Any Farr's crash and Mark Thompson's flip both are from 1994 and both show unpainted walls.

  • It's the Bonnett crash for Christs Sake, give up. The wall wasn't painted all the way around for a few years, it was only white where Daytona USA was.

  • No that really looks like Neil's car you can make out the yellow & pink......unless it was Rodney Orr but I belive that is Neil Bonnett

  • Couldn't be Rodney Orr. Blue and white #37 Ford Thunderbird with redish purple numerals.

  • The 38 frame video clip is all that exists.

  • Search for clips of the 1994 daytona 500. Youll find the wall is painted exactly the same as it is in this clip.

And, since this occured in practice ( which was hardly ever televised in the mid 90s ) there were not many cameras rolling, and this video is probably the only one that exists.

  • That IS Neil Bonnet

  • Proof Please

  • That appears to be the #51 Country Time car, which was indeed a Bonnett car.

  • Yeah it is, think before you speak.

  • I think Neil should've retired after his flip at Talladega in 1993. Thanks for posting this. I've always wanted to see the crash. R.I.P. Neil

  • Another in a long series of accidents of drivers killed by head injuries, with NASCAR not really doing much to prevent future accidents.

  • NASCAR who thinks they know shit,Blamed it on driver error...

  • Wow! i never knew there was video of this. RIP Neil!

  • Hey didnt a shock absorber break and he just lost control?

  • No, they were testing new tires for Dale Earnhardt and the right front blew sending him right in the wall. The doctors said if he took 1 more good hit to the head that it would kill him. To bad they were right this time

  • Oh ok......thats why I always belive he shoulda retired after Darlington

  • If a safer barrier could have save Bonnett from fatal injuries.

  • I have always wanted to see that crash....I belive when Neil was injured at Darlington I belive he shoulda just walked away

  • I'd never seen this before. I had heard before that it was similar to Earnhardt's crash.

  • I Have Never Seen His Crash. That Is Some Rare Footage There.

  • You could just tell that was a brutal impact because of the damage and it was airborne, very unlucky to have a tire failure in that area. HANS device would have saved his life, if it had been invented back in 1994...RIP Neil

  • The HANS device was invented in the 1980's.

  • Wow! This is the NASCAR equivalent of Abraham Zapruder! Who knew this existed!?

  • Yeah a found it by looking through TBK

  • Neil was a good man.... plus i liked his crash at talladega
