I have countless porcelain figures, brought back with my father who spent many years in China, that depict communist police shackling some poor, subservient citizen. @RomanLaurant 南非有英国人的后裔，但是必须承认，南非95%以上的人口是黑人。台湾95%以上的人口是原住民吗？如果不是，台湾不还是中国人的殖民地？至于美国，他是通过独立战争从政治上独立出来，但是在文化上，美国学生学的历史也是古希腊、古罗马，美国文化的根也在欧洲，至今为止，美国与欧洲之间的关系也是切不断的。台湾亦如此，台湾人晓得古希腊、古罗马的历史吗？台湾人中学的时候选择学习拉丁语或者希腊语吗？——显然没有，台湾人仍然在读中国人的四大名著，仍然在学习中国历史和中国文化。

@RomanLaurant 对不起，中华民国为外来政权，台湾实行的是中华民国法律，那么请你自己去看中华民国的宪法，中华民国为中国政权。是“中国国民党”，不是“台湾国民党”，请认清区别。另，台湾人并不享受与中国大陆人民平等的权利，主要体现在国际上没有发言权，主权也并不被国际承认，其所谓的中华民国政府，也只是美国保护下的伪政府，在国际上没有合法性。请你去读联合国公认的人权纲领，人民拥有国家主权也是人权的重要组成部分。
另，你所有举出的例子，都是已经宣布民族主权独立的国家，但台湾并无类似宣言，故台湾不是一国。如果你在台湾见过汽车的话，台湾的汽车车牌号告诉你，台湾是“一省”，如果你认为台湾是一国，那请你把你的车牌号上的“台湾省”改成“台湾国”，看看交警让不让你出门。

@RomanLaurant 中华民国政府为1911年成立之中国政府，1949年已经被新的中国政府取缔并宣布无效，1971年中华民国政府被驱逐出联合国，不再被国际社会视为合法政权。故1971年以来，中华民国为非法政权。而且是彻头彻尾的伪政权，因为它在表面上的一些决策是自己作主，或者它所谓宣称的人民选举，但实际上，一切重要事务都要请示美国，根本没有自主权。就连1971年被联合国驱逐的时候，它在美国的压力下，虽然拥有一票否决的权利，但是它也没有能力使用。
国际通称台湾，是因为中华民国为非法政权，而台湾不是国名，乃中国之一地区，故称台湾。

所以，当你们选中的领导人上台后，他选前所做的任何承诺，也都一古脑的成了屁。当然你们还有不选这个屁的权利，你们可以在国、民两党中选择更不像屁的一个，但实际上国民两党在议会里打架，出了议会就一起去卡拉OK，一切都只是做样子给选民看——这就是你们选民的权利，你们有选择一个屁的权利，仅此而已。

@RomanLaurant 对不起，台湾的媒体并无自由可言，非蓝即绿，没有颜色的媒体通常只作娱乐新闻。有屁选跟没屁选无任何区别，因为没人认为选个屁有甚用。台湾民众的监督只是形同虚设，台湾民主化以后的腐败程度也远远高于民主化以前，如果民主监督管用的话，民进党不会执政8年。拿美国而言，克林顿做得好，民主党也只是做8年，小布什做得烂，但也有8年的执政，不知道民众监督是管甚鸟用的。实际上民众的记忆力很差，你做得再烂，4年过后也都忘光了，然后一切重新来过。
台湾政治的另一个特色是执政党与反对党不分家，谁当政都不影响两大党的政客捞钱。虽然中国公民需要翻墙才能看到政府不喜欢他们看的东西，但是也不要忘了民主是有代价的，中国公民在现实生活中所得到的实惠要远远多于台湾民主化以后的10几年的民生原地踏步，从救济大陆到现在被大陆救济。从大陆人眼中的发达地区，变成大陆人眼中的贫民窟地区。这也是一种选择，你是要民生进步，生活富裕安定，但是看不到政府不喜欢的东西，还是选择宁可或在贫民窟，也一定要看到政府不让看的东西。
而实际上，台湾民众一面失去了致富的可能，另一面也并未看到政府不想让他看的东西。

你们小老百姓只看见了有大陆人想到台湾偷渡，被你们政府严格监控，这是你们政府希望你能看到的东西，因为这证明了台湾的优越性，可是与此同时，已经有120万台湾人在大陆工作，台湾的劳动人口一共只有1200万，就有120万在大陆工作。都说看人群往哪里跑，就知道哪里更优越，10分之一的台湾劳动人口刨去了大陆，说明了什么？说明了台湾经济的萧条，台湾机会的减少，台湾的边缘化以及它优越性的不复存在。但这些比大陆偷渡客严重一万倍的事情，是你们政府不愿意让你小老百姓看到的，所以你们小老百姓就没有看到，或者视而不见，然后继续在苏贞昌、蔡英文谁将代替民进党选所谓的“总统”这样鸡毛蒜皮的小事上打转。

@RomanLaurant 台湾民主的另一个特点是贿选，民主化后20年来不愈的老难题，我永远无法理解怎么可能有人为了几百块人民币的小利，为了一顿免费的大排档，或者为了几天免费的旅游，就投出自己手中的选票，这真是穷疯了的行为，如果说你们的民众监督有用的话，到底是在监督那个政客撒钱撒的多，还是在监督政客的政绩？如果你们的民主监督有用的话，陈菊那样政绩一直垫底 的猪头烂货又怎么可能独霸大高雄？
政客贪钱并不可怕，他能贪多少？像陈水扁那样的人，为了几个钱的小利，就如此疯狂敛财，真的是穷疯了的表现，连贪污都贪不出一个大数字来，台湾真的是太穷了。政客要看他的政绩，他如果能每年给他的城市创造1000亿人民币的增长，我宁可倡议政府每年给他发1亿元人民币的奖金——无所谓——这是小钱，人家给你创利1000块，你还不发给他1块钱的奖金，那是你太黑了。而且，这总比为了只贪几亿新台币，却让整个台湾停滞8年来的强100倍。

@RomanLaurant 首先来说，中国是一个很大的国家，各个地区之间贫富差距很大，这也不是现在才有的，而是几千年来历来如此，台湾地处东南沿海，就应该跟东南沿海比，拿台湾根新疆西藏青海比是没有意义的，因为地理环境不同，台湾如果除了高原、雪山、沙漠什么都没有，恐怕也发展不了。既然台湾地处东南沿海，就应该跟东南沿海比，比不过东南沿海，就是差劲。那么，台湾跟大陆的东南沿海比，在任何指数上都没有任何优势，只有劣势。
如果说买不起房，那么台湾人更买不起房，我去台湾的时候，看到得出了贫民窟，像科索沃战后一样的房子以外，就是台北那种伸不开脚的小蛐蛐房。我根本不敢想象，台湾人在这么小的房间里是怎么活一辈子的，这实在太夸张了，是不是台湾人个子矮也跟房子面积的限制有关？台湾人的住宅，在大陆通常用来做监狱，大陆只有牢房才跟台湾人每天住的屋子同样狭窄。你所说的买不起房，其实只限于一线城市，被评为一线的城市一共也没出十个，但中国很大，有将近700个城市，并不是只有一线城市，其他城市的房价并不贵，连失业者都能有几套房。

@RomanLaurant 台湾人一年的收入是18000美元，一个月就是1500，折合成人民币9900元，低于上海，再刨去物价因素，其实际购买力与浙江、江苏、广东等同。比福建高一些，但本身福建在大陆也不算富裕的省份，至今为止，福建最大的城市也没进全国前三十。但浙江4400万人口，江苏7000万人口，广东9000万人口，上海将近2000万人口，台湾只有2300万人口，再减去长期在海外、大陆居住的台湾人口，其实际人口只有2000万左右。我们这么多人口基数如此庞大的省份跟台湾的人均购买力差不多，那整体实力要强多少？台湾还有什么可牛的？不就成贫民窟了？
另外，你算的只是合法收入，大陆人的灰色收入数额之庞大，根本超出你的想象，隐性富豪远远比福布斯榜上的富豪多很多，这一点台湾比不了。这也是为什么，在你所说的人均收入6500元的浙江，满城都在跑法拉利的原因。

还有，台湾人之所谓的“富裕”我是见识过的，他们所谓的富裕在我眼里叫贫民窟。如果你说你很富裕，你很成熟，那为什么我也25，你也25，我们两人的智商差这么多？如果你真25的话，那你肯定是没见过世面，其心理年龄仍然停留在18。因为任何稍微有社会实践的人，不会有你那样的观点。还什么监督政府，人民发声之类的可笑言论，监督政府有鸟用，你一年去几次政府？你一辈子能跟你所谓的总统握几次手？

@RomanLaurant 你还富裕，富裕什么啊？就拿台北来说，住得跟蚂蚁窝似的，那个城建在大陆就叫贫民窟，那个建筑在大陆上世纪80年代满城都是，本世纪就见不到了。全岛人民骑摩托，一开始我还以为是摩托车国际大赛呢。就台北那个房间，姚明不能住。直起身来撞屋顶，在屋子中间伸直腿能踢到墙，给宠物住绰绰有余，给人住空间就显得不够了。陈水扁有钱啊，在台北高雄买所谓的豪宅，其实大陆中产阶级人人都在住那个档次的房子。

@RomanLaurant 台北还算不错的，虽然看起来像大农村，但是最起码有点规模，那也算城市了。除了台北就完蛋了，台湾第三大的城市叫台中，第四大的城市叫台南，这两个城市太好了，散步就能出城。都走到市中心了，我还以为没进城呢。本以为来到了丰台火车站，人家告诉我这丫叫台南市中心。。。本以为来到了车臣老战场，人家告诉我，这丫地方叫台中。。。当时我就发表感慨，还说台湾人害怕被解放军轰炸，我觉得不然，因为他们的建筑本来就跟战后似的，赶快炸了算了，这些破烂货，赶快炸了盖新的吧。
后来我又去了高雄，只有爱河那一片看起来像城市，其它都是农村。

@yingfanz 另外，通过你的言论，我可以确定你是台湾的底层人士，因为只有底层人士才会可能去关注什么所谓的“人民的声音”，知识结构稍微高一点的人，是不可能这么思考问题的。知识结构稍微高一点的人，他会去评估，你做的事情是利大于弊，还是弊大于利，而不是简单的人民的声音。人民的声音如果是错误的，也必须尽快停止，否则国家将陷入混乱状态。你只是从下往上看事情，这是底层人士的基本观念，但知识结构稍微高一点的人，他们是从上往下看问题的。
社会是一个多面体，从下往上看是一个样，从上往下看则是另一个样。你很显然没学会如何从上往下看，再加上你近乎出于自卑的表达方式，我已经可以确定你是社会底层人士。
越是底层，越会喜欢民主，因为只有一人一票，你们这类小瘪三才可能跟别人平等。所以，我很理解你，但是，我是要说，台湾的民主，是荒唐的，是必然失败的。

@RomanLaurant 另，何谓殖民地？——殖民之地也！何谓殖民，就是把我的人民殖到你那个地方去，就叫殖民，用英语叫colonisation，也是一个意思。欧洲殖民者初期来到美洲大陆，已开始与当地土著也是平等相待的，但即便在那个时期，北美的部分白人居住地区，也叫欧洲殖民地。殖民地的人民并不一定完全在法上不平等，而更多是文化上的不平等，而文化上的不平等，也是人权的一部分。就好像台湾原住民的文化已经几乎完全被汉文化侵占，所以，台湾确实是中国人的殖民地。从郑成功开始直到现在，仍然是。除非台湾的绝大多数人口为台湾原住民，则台湾客不被称为中国人的殖民地。

Beijing was unusually upfront about it, in the old-fashioned way, with the patriotic songs at the Opening Ceremony etc. But ALL modern-day Olympics are heavily commercialised and therefore, arguably, an extended advertisement for the Western way of life.
Maybe it's more interesting to ask whether the Olympics will ever be de-politicised?

They have either a cheery melody (sound like "hope") and usually sung in a choir (sound like "unity" and "revolutionary").
