I've whistled and sang this song in every frre moment today... so many precious memories and such a wonderful tune. I love the casuals version... but this just seems to hit the mark for me, my mind and I this evening.
It evokes Brutus Jeans and shirts... cigarette and chocolate vending machines... and bizarrely candy-floss!! Fairground days and great music : ))
Peter Held hat dieses Stück auch auf deutsch gesungen "Das Mädchen vom Strand".....leider kann ich es nirgends finden. Vielleicht hat es ja irgendjemand und kann es hochladen. Schon einmal vielen Dank!!!!!!
What an eye-opener! I've been a fan of the Casuals' version since it came out and I never knew it wasn't the original. Many thanks for the upload. Beautiful record.
Superb been trying to get a listen to this. It failed as a single at the time but it was massive foe the Casuals several Months later. The Bystanders became Man who had a lot more success. Great single, thanks for the upload
Not a song I'd have expected to hear from a from a South Wales Valley band in the 60's. :-) One of my favourites, and didn't know the casuals version was a cover, until now. Thanks for posting this. The bit towards the end that sounds like and early mobile phone ringtone though. :-)
lol...i dint even know this version existed til now!! heard of the bystanders but always thought the casuals was the original!!! i was 7yrs old when casuals realeased my fave version of this song back in 69 (tho i like the original too) was out n remember my nuch loved dad singing along to it..pmpl..bit odd really i guess as my dad was a eric burdon (the animals) double!!
Wow, that was a pretty cool original version by the band later to become 'Man'. Thanks so much for sharing this, it seems The Casuals covered this song very faithfully, it's one of my favourite songs :)
This song is delicious

The Casuals version is way superior in my opinion. Not to say this is bad. This band has the best name though.

I can't decide which version of this song I prefer. Either way this is a really beautiful slice of 60's nostalgia. And also pretty trippy :)

PYE , London such iconic 60's 70's record labels.
Very similar to the casuals but the production on that is superior . Nice vocals.

I slightly prefer The Casuals version, but maybe that's because it's the one I'm familiar with.
This is very good though.
I love songs like this from the 60's..Tracy/When Julie Comes Around..by The Cufflinks...When You Are A king/Julie Do ya love me ..by White Plains.
