  • they had great chemistry together.saw the reunion tour and the were still great. prefer To with dawn

  • WTF..mobile phone vids are not right for this medium! Thanks for trying!

  • I love these ladies. I am such a huge fan of Joyce Vincent-Wilson and Telma Hopkins I always though that Joyce and Telma did a wonderful job singing they are for sure Motown girls they did alot of background vocals for many wonderful singers like: Bob Segar, Dionne Warwick, Chairmen Of The Board, Freda Payne, Johnnie Taylor, Issac Hayes, Four Tops, Flaming Ember Laura Lee, Scherrie Payne, Black Foot and many more othe groups to mention. All I have to say Tony Orlando is a lucky baster!!!

  • I've walked into a Vegas showroom time warp!!

  • I love these girls! They made Tony Orlando! I am so sure that Tony was so glad to have Joyce & Telma on the group! Also I did forget to mention Joyce's sister Pam she did all of there recordings and the backgroup vocal arrangements so there were really three girls as Dawn. I did see that Pam did tour with Tony and Joyce when Telma was doing her sitcoms! I have been such a big fan of Joyce Vincent - Wilson. I see that she is on the Former Ladies Of The Supremes and looks beautiful as ever!

  • Beautiful rendition. Thrilling. Watching this video literally takes me back to when I was a small kid -- sitting on the floor and watching TV with my mom. Incredible times were the 70s.

  • Well, It's a song by Steeley Dan

  • Was this video taken from the seventies. I think they had a variety show on weekdays. And I think these two sang laughter in the rain.

  • OMG! OMG! I lchecked out Tour DE 4Force, what wonderful music and a wonderful group! Joyce and Pam, You are so beautiful, Joyce you still look the same. Pam, I am so glad that you and Joyce are sing together what beautiful vocals, I seen you ladies in LA with Freda Payne what a show! Joyce was my all time favorite Dawn on the group! I loved to hear her sing, Joyce & Pam you ladies are unbelieveable! I am looking forward to this CD coming out, I keep checking the stores for Tour DE 4Force!

  • Check out on Myspace Tour DE 4Force, Joyce is on this new group with her sister Pam also Scherrie Payne, Theresa Davis and Jim Gilstrap. The first single is coming out end of June called Godsend, they been playing the song already in England. What awesome singers.

  • Sounds like a Carpenters recording. This has the Carpenters' style/sound.

  • I saw Tony Orlando and Dawn in March 1976 at the Carolina Coliseum in Columbia, SC. The show was delayed due to an ankle injury to Joyce. They toted her out and she sat on a stool during the performance. But is was a good show, though. Did anyone else see them around this time? Please reply.

  • Read Tony's book and even he will tell you they were considered a trio. Tony acknowledeged Telma and Joyce's contribution to the group in a major way. It would still have to be the right combination are it would not work. Read Tony's book and he backs up all of the points being made here.

  • Lets get something straight, if it were not for Telma and Joyce's bringing the glamour side to the group I don't believe he would've been as successful. Their personalities also had mass appeal, even though Tony had already recored at least three songs before he met them, they still had to have the right sound, look and appeal.

  • @maingee I completely AGREE!

  • Joyce and Telma are wonderful singers. If you haven't got a copy of the Tony Orlando & Dawn Christmas Reunion cd that came out in 2005 what a treat their is alot of Telma and Joyce solos on that cd and it is a wondeuful cd.

  • i'm sorry, love ross, but the best songs were after she was gone...Terrell can sing, Wilson is a background singer so is Birdsong, but terrell, and payne, and laurence !!!!

  • Joyce & Telma are awesome singers, They still look and sing awesome.

  • Hi. I have to agree with selfishwon on this Tony Orlando and Dawn is a trio If Telma & Joyce were just backup singers they would not have got award on the American Music award from Dick Clark. The lable of the record says Tony Orland & Dawn If Joyce & Telma were just backup singers the would not be list on the record, like when Tony released a record in 1978 calll Don't Let Go it was under Tony's name only and he had backup singers on the record.

  • Telma & Joyce are great singers. They are more than backup singers, They are wonderful trio. I bought their Christmas Reunion cd on line and the cd its a smash, I hope they do more advertising. I did not know anything about until I looked on line. Spirit Of Christmas, Ave Maria, Christmas Time is Here, This Christmas, Welcome To Are World, They are wonderful songs that Joyce & Telma sings.

  • Joyce & Telma are more than backup singers. They have a wonderful singing voices and still do.

  • Without Tony Orlando, these too sound ...well ..ahem...like back-up singers.

  • I don't thinks so, Without Telma and Joyce Tony never had a number one hit song ever and never will. Telma & Joyce can sing circles around Tony.

  • Without Tony, Joyce and Telma never had any hit. Tony could have sang with any studio backup singers and had the same hits he did with Joyce and Telma.

  • Telma and Joyce were also singers of the group Tony Orlando and Dawn, If they were just backup singers they would not name the group Tony Orlando and Dawn they would just name it Tony Orlando. So I think Tony needed Telma & Joyce, like Telma & Joyce needed Tony. They are a wonderful group TOGETHER. The Key word TOGETHER.

  • The name was changed because DAWN was just a bad name, so they decided to make the gals DAWN. Despite the new name, Telma and Joyce were backup singers, singing very minor parts. In fact, CANDIDA was recorded before Tony even met the gals. They could have used any female studio singers. Telma and Joyce got lucky.

  • Tony got lucky, Tony was hunting down Telma & Joyce not Telma & Joyce hunting down Tony. Joyce & Telma were singing with other major groups before Tony, Also Joyce's sister Pamela Vincent told Tony, Telma and Joyce to record their number one hit song Tie Yellow Ribbon Round The Ole Oak Tree and also Pamela Vincent arrange the vocals. Also the the TV show was a hit not just Tony on the show. Remember the key word Tony Orlando & Dawn.

  • Let's put it this way. As a recording act, the group was never considered a trio, like the BeeGees, or America. The major reason why the name was changed WAS because of the TV show. The gals played a bigger role on the show (especially Telma), but still Tony was the star of the show. The gals may have been singing with other major groups, but they were backup singers! Anyhow, I loved their songs as a kid, and still have many of their 45's. Now I listen (and watch) for nostalgic reasons.

  • The group was consider a trio, at the beginning they were called Dawn and then Dawn featuring Tony Orlando, Tony Orlando & Dawn, almost of all their albums Joyce, Telma have recorded their solos on the albums, and last but lease the 2005 A Christmas Reunion cd Telma starting the lead vocal also alot of Joyce & Telma doing leads. If their are only backup singers they would not do any leads at all.

  • Back up singers can sing lead, but the songs are usually fillers. They are fine singers, but their voices are not distinctive to be hit makers. Look at the Supremes. Diana Ross was clearly the lead in that group, just like Tony was in his. After she left, she went on to score big hits. The other 2 disappeared into oblivion. Tony had the potential to be successful on his own, but his problem with drugs killed his chance.

  • you got it wrong with the statement "After she left, she went on to score big hits. The other 2 disappeared into oblivion. "

Look around, there are clips of Mary Wilson, Supremes all over youtube "after Diana" left. Some of them have full concert itineraries every year since those days!

  • "Joyce turned out to be the least demanding and biggest talent in the group. I quickly saw that Joyce sang circles around both Telma and me".

That is a quote from Tony's autobiography "Halfway to Paradise" page 100. Telma and Joyce also sang several leads/duets on the Christmas album in 2005. There is even a song where all three of them take turns singing lead. Tony and Dawn are definately considered a trio.

  • Tony and Dawn were definately considered a trio.

  • they could sing anything

  • this is one of my best songs (steely stan fan here), this version is very good.

  • Great!

  • kinda cute . .

  • Great video!! Joyce and Telma sounds great, I have bought the new Tony Orlando and Dawn Christmas Reunion Cd that came out 2005, Joyce and Telma have several solos on this cd witch makes this cd sounds perfect. Joyce and Telma should release a solo cd. Telma and Joyce is still pretty and sounds awesome. I hope Joyce and Telma will make a solo cd.

  • Are you kidding? From what I saw recently, BOTH are fat cows, Joyce being the most out fo shape. They DO however sound as beautiful as they did in the 70s

  • I think that Telma and Joyce are both very beautiful women.

  • Check out the Tony Orlando & Dawn Ultimate Collection DVD set for more! Here's a little bit of music biz "synergy". Here you have Dawn covering Steely Dan. Tony Orlando & Dawn began with the single "Candida" which was co-written by Toni Wine who also sang on "Candida". Toni Wine sang on all Steely Dan's records as a Babylon Girl.

  • What a video. I just love Joyce and Telma, they sing unbelieveable and look pretty as always. Thanks for sharing that wonderful video.

  • wow ,this is one of my favorite clips of dawn, got anymore. this just took me back to 1975. more more more.thanks for posting this
